I would go for the Turtle Beach Micro since its a reputable brand (Turtle Beach makes decent-high end PCI cards for desktops) and I have had personal experience with it. The USB adapter 'amplifies' the sound and gives a sense of artificial surround sound.

If you have the money, don't go for those, get the ones from Creative, or do some more research about those USB sound cards. Creative USB sound card is pretty good.

Any USB sound card is going to use CPU power, simply because that's how USB works. I have the Creative Audigy 2 NX and love it; it works great with my z5300e speaker system.
