Hey, seems like my 120gb Hitachi hard drive is becoming too little for my uses so I'm in the market to purchase a bigger one.

I'm looking one with USB 3.0 and I'd prefer a relatively small one. The Western Digital Passport series have really caught my eye with its small form factor, 500/750gb space, and USB 3.0

I'm looking to spend under $160NZD and need at least 300gb. If the WD Passport fits the bill. What place has the best prices? Cheapest they can be found $135NZD here in New Zealand stores but if its significantly cheaper in the U.S then i may buy there. Any sites would be excellent.

    Thanks in advance. :)

You could always build your own. All you need is a 2.5in drive and an enclosure.

If not, I like newegg.com to check out hard drives. You can narrow your search to all sorts of parameters. Pricing does vary but you can find a 500gig 3.0 for around $80USD.

*Lastly does performance matter? If so, choose a 7200rpm drive.

there are many people hating WD Passport because of the SmartWare feature. I was about to buy a Toshiba Canvio. I like it more.

It's not mandatory to keep the SmartWare.. just re-format the drive and you're good to go.

I got my Portable GoFlex 1TB 5200RPM USB 3.0 for $85 on eBay :). Most sellers would charge $100 for that I think. It's a simple and nice drive. Great that it is forward upgradable (changeable adapter)
