Hi guys, i've heard that it's very important to have a good mousemat if your going to get a good mouse (i'm getting a high-end gaming mouse, check other thread). And i was wondering what i should buy. I can spend quite alot on this mousepad, so i would like to have a very good one. Thx!

Hi Guys, i have Max £50 to spend on a mouse. So i'm looking for a very high end mouse. I was just wondering, what your opinion is on what u think i should buy. I'll state what i Need, and what i would like:
What i want
Minimum 2000 DPi
Very Comfortable
Scrolling Wheel
2 Main Mouse Buttons
Changeable DPI
Under £50
Optical
Wired
Windows XP Compatible
Good Looking
Optional
Changeable LED lights
Adjustable Weight
and maybe some other things. I'm not 2 fussed on having many buttons... it#'d be cool to have profiles on it, but again i'm not that fussed... also i heard theres a problem with the Razer Lechsis or something. Supposedly when u click it moves the cursor? unless u have a hard surface, and it's almost unplayable on a soft... anyway, thx in advance -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Razer Lachesis. It works flawless on my mouse pad, and they already fixed the cursor problem. Look into it a little, I'm sure that you'll like what you hear.
-
I would vote for a Razer as well.
Which one would depend on your grip preference, as they are all shaped a little differently.
I have every current Razer mouse on review except the Lachesis, so feel free to browse them and ask any questions if need be. -
Lachesis

i bought a cybersnipa alumunium mouspad for my gaming desktop. it is very good, i use it in conjunction with logtitech g5 mouse, it glide around there smoothly and very accurately. the alumunium bezel could be finish in higher standard of quality though. but overall. the sticky sticky all rubber mouspad base is my favourite feature of this mouspad, it never moved a single milimeter, the only way to easily moved/slide the mouspad it to lift it then move it. the base is really sticky!
-
I've also thought about buying gaming mice and keyboards, but it all actually boils down to good marketing... you really don't need a speciallized gaming mouse. I still have my trusty basic Dell mouse and it hasn't let me down yet. But that's just my 50 pence (lol)
-
i personally like the logitech G5 mouse for my gaming desktop. however it does not have changeable led lighting. the logitech G9 perhaps? i never tried it, but you should definetly have a look at one of these two, it is one of the best gaming mouse around.
gaming mice and keyboard does not only improve your gameplay; it is built in higher quality. for (proper) gaming keyboard and mouse, every button feels accurate and solid, and response instantly and does not feels flimsy at all. for mouse, the teflon feet offer a very smooth glide. it makes computing the way it should be. not the cost cutting make-it-cheaper trend of today. -
Just go to the store look at mice with those specs and get a feel for them. Comfort is different for every person and should always be at the top of the list.
-
Also checkout Sidewinder... its a classy accessory.
-
I have a G9, and it's an awesome gaming mouse. It's got interchangeable weights, you can change the color of the LED's, you can customize as many DPI points as you want all the way up to 3200. The only gripe I have is about the free-spinning mouse wheel. The first one I had got a bit clogged and wouldn't spin very far before getting stuck, and my current one just got clogged too. However, I don't really use the feature much, so it's not big deal.
-
i use the razor copperhead. very smooth, responsive, and fits nicely in my hand. take a look at razor's and logitech's line. these companies are well-known to people who are looking for a high-end, gaming mouse

Razer deathadder or lachesis along with a razer mousepad. You can tell the difference between a regular mouse
If your on a budget go with a MS intellimouse explorer v3.0 -

Sidewinder, G9 and Lachesis are the ugliest mouses ive ever seen.
Their performance is what compensates for the uglyness.
The MS/Razer Habu looks nice -
Depending on your grip style, the pair of razers that flipfire recommended gets my vote. The deathadder should be around 35 GBP and the lachesis should be abit more.
-
I've purchased WAY too many mice in the last year trying to find the perfect one. If it's labeled "high end gaming mouse," I probably have it or tried it at least once.
The best ergo + high performance mouse I've used is the Ikari Steel Series Laser. I also love the G9, but I had to use adhesive felt-pads on its grip shell's interior to remove some flex. The Ideazon Reaper Edge is another nice ergo-performance mouse, but it lacks macro support. The least comfortable: Razer Lachesis -- great performance, but cramps my hand a lot due to the awkward side-button placement. The strangest looking mouse award goes to the Saitek Cyborg
Here's some of the mice side-by-side:
EDIT: As for a mouse-mat... I have a razer exact-mat, but I've since gone back to a regular soft-surface model pictured above since they're easier on teflon mouse feet. -
woah! nice! very nice lord shar
that saitek cyborg really caught my eye. -
Personally, I play with a Fragmat. Very nice gaming mouse pad. I'm lovin' it. I have a one of the WoW model
-
i just got my razer exactmat + exactrest from ebay for $30 shipped. i love it! this is my first gaming-grade mouse pad and it is everythin it is advertised to be.
also made a custom mouse pad from www.zazzle.com. the mouse pad came in 2 days and the picture quality was great.
good luck =) -
oh, ok soz, but thx
-
ok well now my threads are merged, i would like to say that in the end, i have bought the Razer Deathadder. I have to say that 1st impressions arnt that exciting, compare to a Cyborg or G9 etc, but compared to a normal mouse it is. But ive had 4 a lil while now, and definitely worth getting, so i reccommend
. I choose it cus it had the highest reviews
. As with a mousemat, i'm STILL looking
. My friend bought a Razer Mantis Speed, and i have 2 say. I LOVED it. So nice to use, but not gaming style, but a DEFINITE general mousemat
. Btw he got the Largest one, and he STILL says its to small LOL. Anywayz, i have a gd feeling i'll get that, AND a gaming mouse, so in Razer definition: Control. Any reccomendations? Btw i dont mind if it isnt a Razer mat, unless they work better with my Rzer Mouse. Thx!
-
oh also, i would use it defintely the most 4 CSS, i think, but i also play CCGZH, DOW, Crysis (but not much). Urm... well loads of others but like i said mostly FPS, btw i also do some skinning and desigining, but not loads. And remember i want a mousemat that would work best for the Rzer DeathAdder, which is an Infrared sensor, thx!
-
LOL I play BF2 with my wireless Logitech laptop mouse....I got three sniper kills and one death before something came up and I had to leave. It was really jittery but I made do, I guess a gaming mouse would really help me out.
-
I use an XTRAC RIPPER PAD (highly recommend it especially if your looking for a large mousepad like i prefer for gaming) + Logitech MX518 mouse for gaming (TF2, Q3 & CSS)
-
I was used to logitech and I've found it the best mouses every but I recently bought a Razer Deathadder and you can really notice the difference...
My accuracy in games has improved as well.
Those 'specialized gaming mice' you speak of generally are more responsive and sensitive to movement
BTW, I didn't really read the whole thread so I don't know if you're a high sensitive player or not... You don't want to waste money on a bigger version of a mouse mat if you don't need the space right
I'm pretty happy with my Steelseries QcK mini cos it's small and easy to take with me and it performs tremendously but I think you can do better for the money though, and you prolly don't want it to be that portable... -
Of course you don't really need a specialized mouse, a mouse is a mouse but gaming does take a toll on your standard mouse. I've broken a few mice that get bundled with computers until I went to a Logitech MX Revolution. The Revolution lasts to this day but it is choppy because of being wireless and that's why I use a Deathadder now. Now I also realize that the higher DPI of the Deathadder makes a huge difference when I play (I can hardly tell the difference during normal browsing).

I'm sorry to hi-jack this old thread, but I'm wondering if there is any decent mouse mat with gel wrist support?
I found that my wrist becomes quickly unconfortable, when playing FPS games on flat mats, and I've heard some positive things about those gel mouse mats -
read post 21
-
do we really need a special pad or is this just another marketing speek? i feel perfectly fine running on desktop surface w/ my lachesis, yes it scratches the teflon somewhat abut i feel as accurate as i can get already.
-
would the common gamer want an edge over their competition? yes. a gaming mousepad is great cuz it lets u fine tune yur sensitivity and accuracy. different pads have different speed surfaces to accommodate a player's playing style, whether it be low or high-sensitivity. it also gives u a constant variable wherever u go. u won't have to guess how different surfaces will effect yur accuracy. like u said, a good pad also helps prolong the mouses "feet". -
What games are you playing anyway? Like what others said on this thread, when you talk about a mouse + mouse pad, it all comes to taste. Razor pads are great for just about any mouse.
-
I mainly just play counter strike 1.6 and UT 4.
Got a mat with wrist support earlier today, see how it goes, if its not my thing, I'll try out the premium razer pad.
Thanks guys. -
(my favorites mousepads anyway lol).
-
the wrist pad is made of the gel found in most gel-wrist pads. it fits really nice at the bottom of the exactmat, so it looks like 1 unit together. u can also remove it or use it with other pads if u wish. i play FPS's and MMO's. it is the perfect size for me, not too big not too small. -

another option is to go johnny's route. alot of good quality clothe products can be had for very cheap. -
I agree...But how much difference are there between the razer and the 3M one? in term of comfort?
And which 3M one exactly should it be? apparently there are quite a few for £15 there.

the razer one on the other hand 1) fits and goes with the exactmat. 2) very large, about 10 inches wide. 3) no unevenly distributed gel. -

Thats the one I have. 3M is a great company for a huge range of products. These are design for office workers. -
I just found a great deal. eXactMat+eXactRest for £18.
I play with medium sensitivity, and carry my laptop in my backpack. I reckon while the razer may be a bit big, figured instead of buying some mat recklessly from a ebay seller, I'd rather get it right this time.
rep added+ -
Ah nice deal. I play with high sens so I just use small pads.
-
-
Finally, the package arrived today. I thought it had got lost in post.
Anyway, I can say initially the pad is pretty comfortable; however, it does make more noise than I expected with G9, and given it has metal surface, I'm not sure how long my G9's feet are going to last for. Especially if I use the rougher 'Control' side of eXactMat.
Just need to make sure, I'm I suppose to use gaming mouse directly on the metal mat? -
wow i never knew there were so many gaming mouse pads!
What Gaming Mousemat should i buy?
