Getting a new laptop soon, since my desktop got struck by lightning. I'm going to be plugging this laptop in to my 65" LCD via HDMI. What is a good wireless keyboard and mouse that won't lose performance while gaming?
Should I go wired for one of them? If so, what usb extension cord would you recommend (reliability/performance-wise)?
Thanks in advance.

for gaming people like to recommend the Razer Mamba or the Razer Orochi the latter being more practical if you see yourself travelling around requiring a mouse. Thou the Orochi connects via bluetooth but has a USB cord to connect to laptop if required.

The Razer Mamba and Orochi are both great, as well as the Logitech G7. I have no idea about keyboards, though, all of mine have been wired.

I'd say go for a collection of Razer. I've read so many reviews on the Orochi it's not even funny, and all have been good. I'm thinking of ordering one actually.

Mice: I like the Logitech G7 I use it daily it fits my hand well and I like its dual battery charge idea.
For mobile use its more appropriate than the Mamba since it only has one battery so you would have to find time to charge it or use it with the cable.
The mamba is fine for desktop use because you can charge it overnight on its dock, another item you dont want to carry around for mobile use since the dock is pretty big.
For keyboards, I never used a wireless one :/ well I did I had a logitech one but it was not made for gaming it used IR and was only suitable for HTPC use.
You want one that uses bluetooth or RF definitely not IR. -

The Logitech VX Revolution has been a great choice IMO. I was able to find it for $30 on Amazon. The scroll wheel has an option to disengage the gear allowing it to spin freely on ball bearings (for 20 sec in one flick) which is great for scrolling through Itunes libraries or long documents. *cough* or mousewheeling on CS:S*cough*

The Logitech G7 is a nice wireless mouse for big hands. You might also want to look at the new Logitech mice, the Performance Mouse MX and Anywhere Mouse MX. Razer also has a good lineup of wired mice that can go wireless for convenience.

Not sure about a keyboard, but for mice I just picked up a Sanwa Supply bluetooth mouse that I'm pretty happy with so far. 5 buttons (two thumb + the regular buttons), connects well, has variable DPI, and it's the only full-size bluetooth mouse that's not a razer that costs way too much:

All wireless devices have some.
Wireless keyboards almost always have enough for me to notice.
Wireless mice almost always do unless it's a high end one.
Even if you can't feel or notice the lag, that doesn't mean it will not effect your gaming. In FPS a split second is sometimes the difference between life and death.
I would recommend one of the older Logitech high end wireless if you want to go that route. The Revolution or 1100, etc.. The MX Performance, I would pass. I had it for about 2 weeks, and in a heated battle the left button would just stop working for 5 seconds.
I tried contacting Logitech and got no response so I took it back. It was a nice mouse, but not a big improvement over my Revolution, I'm not really sure it was any improvement really, but that mouse button issue was death. I'm not sure if it was just mine or if other people had the problem, I had one of the very first off the boat. It may be fixed, could have been defective, I don't know. -

Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse:
Best wireless mouse for gamers -
A wireless mouse with a receiver may not have those delays (or they may not be as bad), but it will also eat up a USB port, and since I only have 3 (one combined with an eSATA port), my USB space is at a premium and I'd prefer to not use one up when I have Bluetooth integrated. For the price, it's the best mouse I've ever hadEven better is that it's comfortable in my hand for long periods of gaming. Almost all other bluetooth mice are tiny little things, and in any case they are usually way too expensive.
-
And that's enough to make me stay away from bluetooth mice for now -

What are some good wireless keyboards/mice for gaming?
