Please specify price range. You can spend hundreds of dollars on some wireless speakers.

I have the wired version of the promedia 2.1 and they are fantastic, especially for the price.

I don't have experience with the wireless version, but I'd be willing to bet that you won't be displeased.

I have no experience with these, but I see it often when I go to Best Buy, so I'll put this out there: Sony Altus has this integrated, wireless solution that may help. I think the cool thing is that by purchasing additional components, you can integrate say the home theater with a multi-room speaker solution. For a PC, you can try
ALT-SA32PC | Multi-Room Music System for PC | Sony | Sony Style USA

I don't think it comes with a subwoofer though, maybe that can be an additional component.

Edit: There's another way to get wireless. Apple sells this Airport Express Base Station ( http://store.apple.com/us/product/M...ss-AirTunes?fnode=MTY1NDA0Mg&mco=MTA4NTc4MTE). Basically it's a power plug with built in 802.11n and speaker-out capability, so you can plug a wired speaker into it. So you'll need to buy the speakers separately.

That's a lot for laptop speaker. Although you should know that wireless are not as good as their wired counterparts.

For that price you could buy some excellent wire speakers (for a laptop of course). However, if the flexibility of wireless is paramount to you they will still be superior to virtually all those built into your computer.

i want a small wireless,,, for quality sound and portability. I have alot of gatherings outside for bbqs, or music out in the pool,, as well as use them for entertainment speakers in the bedroom etc...... but the 200 for the promedias sound good...

Sorry, but that's an oxymoron. With a wireless system, you sacrifice sound quality for portability.
It's the same with an MP3 player. They're convenient, but the quality of sound they produce is subpar.

Still, most people wouldn't know the difference, or their choice of music isn't that high on quality in the first place. If that's the case, get whatever is the cheapest.

If you're looking for SMALL and have some cash to blow, then this would fit the bill

SoundLink Wireless Music System - Bose Wireless Systems ? Digital Music Solutions

The system itself is a lot smaller than the promedias and has wireless. One of my friends has a small set of Bose speakers like those and you'd be surprised at how loud they can get.

At $494.95, it's right under your $500 budget too.

I doubt they're louder. The promedias are 200 Watt big speakers designed to be placed somewhere and left alone. The Bose are designed to be moved around and are small in comparison.

My promedias can shake walls if I wanted it to. The Bose ones should be able to fill a large room if you wanted it to.

They're designed for different things really. I personally would go with the promedias as they're much cheaper and are wonderful.

Keep in mind that loud and good are two separate issue. Ninety percent of all loud speakers merely produce amplified distortion. Fortunately, few people can tell the difference. :(

It'll work with anything. It essentially creates a "virtual" line out for your laptop and will pipe all the sounds that the laptop will normally send through the speakers or the headphone jack into the speaker connector.
