Got a new dell laptop on the way and was wondering what bluetooth mouse I sould I get ?
-
One of the most popular bluetooth mice is the Logitech V270. I'll recommend it.
-
V270 for sure. The V200 (USB version) is awesome too.
-
I use the microsoft bluetooth intellimouse. I would recommend it. It has 5 buttons. For whatever reason, logitech doesn't feel the need to produce a bluetooth mouse with more than 2 buttons. I thought about getting the radtech bt600 as a replacement for my ms mouse.
Good luck

If you mean a bluetooth mouse that doesn't require a dongle the choices are pretty limited. It seems nuts - so many notebooks come with BT pre-installed and working, that you'd think there'd be more things like mice and keyboards that would just work with it. And there were some good ones that just aren't available anymore (Logitech MX900, Anycom).
A recent experience with a bad BT dongle makes me wonder if these cheap things have been reclassified as "revenue streams" for the makers. So now they're making them all with dongles. I had a dongle give out, while still under warranty. They eventually replaced it for free, but the possibility of me buying a new one was mentioned at one point.
In addition to the ones mentioned above, Radtech and IOGEAR each have a bluetooth mouse. -
FWIW, this is the one I'm going to get...

Check out the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000
I’m hoping to buy this soon. It also doubles a wireless remote.
-
I'm glad to hear the Logitech V270 is good quality. I ordered it with my Inspiron 1520
-
-
That is kind of an odd point that you would need them. -
I agree it's a bit silly. Having to use a dongle takes away a lot of the elegance of using a bluetooth mouse with a laptop with built-in bluetooth. Just check that the mouse you're buying isn't restricted to a dongle. -
+1 for the Logitech v270, great mouse.
-
Anyone know if this requires the dongle? I have a $50 gift cert I can use at Tiger Direct:

microsoft wireless laser mouse 8000.
Hands down the best bt mouse I've ever used, and I've had the v270, mx900, and the older microsoft bt mouse. -

. Because then you can assign many functions to those buttons. Its like a full remote (if you are interested in multimedia remote capability)......
-
Microsoft presenter mouse 8000 4 me pls!
-
well for those getting M1330 it's kinda pointless to get presenter mouse because it's got the IR remote already. I'm more interested in a BT mouse with high precision, light weight and low battery consumption.

I'll have to see if I'm willing to risk getting refurb - I appreciate your input -
Do you guys know the v270 dimensions?
Thanks in advance. -
I got the V270 mouse from canadacomputers.com refurbished for 20 bucks as well. I'm guessing you are referring to the same deal
. It's working great so far, though no CD came with it.
The V270 click sound is fairly loud, a bit louder than most.
The V270 is frikkin AWESOME for battery life. I've had mine for.. I guess 2 months now and I still haven't replaced the batteries. Also, you can use just one battery instead of two and it still works great (reduces it's weight too)
Make sure you use the logitech setpoint program with it, and make sure you update your bluetooth drivers. Do not use the microsoft bluetooth stack, or you are almost guaranteed to have problems.
EDIT
V270 specs:
Width 6.8 in.
Depth 8.5 in.
Height 2.8 in.
Weight 1.7 lb. (2 double A's in it) -
-
ocellaris, are you sure? Do you know its dimensions then?
-
-
Logitech V270 works well for me, for fps gaming too. But the mouse is small, not as comfortable as the MX500 series.
-
What do you mean by "do not use the microsoft bluetooth stack"? Isn't that what comes built in with Vista? Please elaborate. -

Anyway I dont have the mouse with me since im on vacation but ill estimate it to be 2.5in long x 1.5in wide x 1in tall from memory. The weight of the mouse itself is negligible. Its the battery that counts. You can customize the weight by using either 1 or 2 batteries. I use 1 since I like it lighter. -
lol that would be one fat mouse. Full grown bluetooth possum!
Love the shape, size, and ergonomics of the logitechs. Discovered you can actually get too small for comfort when I bought the ms 8000 (presentation version). It disappeared in my hand, had to contract too much to "get to it". Lazer pointer was cool though.
If compatability requires a dongle, I don't just don't see the advantage of bt. Frankly. But most ridiculous is this "wireless" for which you have to plug this huge usb receiver... at the end of a wire! Don't know wtf I was thinking when I bought that one. -
haha sorry I didn't reply, I had to go to work (night shift at a grocery store.. eww).
Yes the dimensions I mentioned were the box. Using my kitchen scale (not a bathroom scale) the mouse with 2 regular duracell batteries is 121 grams (0.266759 lb).
It is 4.25 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1.75ish inches high.
I did a load of research before buying this mouse because I really wanted to know whether it was a good mouse or not, why it was worth only 20 bucks (which is damn cheap on refurbished) etc. I can say that is is a GREAT mouse for the money, but it does have a few quirks.
with this mouse, make sure you use the logitech setpoint software that is offered on the CD that comes with the mouse, or online on the logitech website. It makes sure the mouse works properly with your computer. My mouse does not work without the software working in the background. (The program is called setpoint.exe. FYI: uses 8 megs of ram for those who try to minimize ram usage)
When I say windows bluetooth stack, I mean install the drivers for your bluetooth. DO NOT use the drivers that windows will load itself when it first detects that you have bluetooth. Those drivers are out of date, and horrid. The mouse for most people seems to need updated bluetooth drivers, otherwise weird problems start happening. Many peoples problems were fixed (including my own) when they updated their bluetooth drivers.
When you let this mouse sit for 10 seconds or so, it will take a second to start registering movement again. This is not a hardware problem, it is a battery saving 'feature' that I wish I could toggle, but isn't all that bad. You get used to it, unless your completely anal about that kind of thing, which is ok.
I play Call of Duty 2 single player from time to time, but mostly play Half life 2 and Day of Defeat: source. After a little bit of a relearning curve, my machine gunning antics are just as good as they were before.
This mouse is a 1000 DPI mouse. That means that it is much more sensitive than most mice (at least, those below the $20 dollar range). You will have to go to control panel and reduce the mouse sensitivity. I never got the sensitivity to what I was used to, I had to get used to a different sensitivity level. It took a day or two, but I like it now.
I don't game all day, but after all the time I have spent using this thing, I can't imagine it running out of battery in five days, unless you play like 12 hours a day. And if you do, I hate you.
If you don't know what bluetooth drivers to use, take a look at the manufacturer of your bluetooth device (usually can be found out by seeing what your bluetooth module is called in the device manager), and visit their website.
All in all, I like this mouse! It is an excellent basic mouse that works well. After a little bit of a learning curve, and some getting used to, I will never go back to my old microsoft USB intelli mouse with 5 buttons. Viva la V270! -

the batteries are in a parallel circuit, not series, so the amount of charge given is the same. meaning: the range is not affected when only one battery is in it. It works just as well. The battery just dies faster.
I dunno how long one battery lasts, I use two, because I like a heavier mousey. Ill let you know how long two batteries last when the two I've had in it since I first turned it on finally die.
-
Well I just got my V270 refurb... What a nice mouse. The key clicks aren't as bad as my other logitech! LOL
As far as Setpoint is concerned... it didn't detect my mouse AND it messed around with my Webcam drivers and caused my webcam's framerate to CRAWL.
Eventually, I decided to uninstall SetPoint and use the Vista Bluetooth drivers and everything works perfect! Fast framerates on my webcam again and the mouse just works!
thanks to all for the recommendations! The case it comes in and the two duracell batteries is worth what I paid for the entire mouse.

I would say it's like a "regular" mouse click.
Loud in a library? Perhaps... depends on how anal everyone around you is! LOL
What bluetooth mouse ?
