I'd go for a mouse with a cord. Wireless mice burn their batteries to fast IMO.
Maybe an external keyboard. But thats not really essential.

Make sure your backpack isn't too flashy. You really don't want to be advertising you're carrying a laptop. Every would-be thief would try to steal it. When I'm carrying my laptop around i try to conceal it as much as possible. I just put it in a regular backpack with a little home added protection.

Basically I don't really know anything else you need to enjoy your laptop.

I agree, less noticeable is better esp. for laptops.

As for your other concerns, what battery did you order with your D630? If you ordered it with the 9 cell battery, you should get around 6 hours or more of battery life with wi-fi on.

The mouse-A standard full size one should do just fine when your at your desk-they are more comfortable than notebook mice too, in class, you may want a smaller wireless mouse. Some mice are rechargeable while others (like mine unfortinetly) use regular batteries. Although they do reduce battery life somewhat, they are great esp. if you have to do a lot of document editing in class.

The Loditech VX revolution is a very nice mouse :) (i dont own one i am just recommending one :p)

Cooling pad...the D630 isn't exactly a 'hot' notebook so you can probably skip on that, if you do find it too warm then you could always order one off newegg or something :p I have a NotePal infinite myself...see review (in sig).

I usually carry my notebook in a messenger bag with a padded notebook pouch.

for real ur a very planned person. Im the one that wait for the laptop first then see what i want. I dont rush thing. When things needs to rush on need, U'll go buy it. You dont want to be one of the people with a logitech z5500 speakers, A wireless mice, A headphone with mic, A laptop bag, And anything u can think of.

-You won't need a cooling pad
-How much RAM does the system come with? You don't need more than 1 GB for XP or 2 GB for Vista. That said, RAM is cheap so if you want to, go ahead and buy more.
-Since you mentioned money is tight, consider a notebook sleeve instead of a notebook backpack or bag. The D630 should fit fine in a regular backpack, so no need to spend extra for that.
-Unless you're going to be away from a power outlet for long periods of time, don't buy an extra battery. I've never had a need for one.
-Get an external mouse (I prefer wireless because I don't like cords)
