Just purchased Asus V6va. It is to hot to rest on my lap for extended periods. I was wondering what everyone uses between the laptop and the lap?

A piece of 1/4" plywood cut just the size to fit on my lap which worked OK this spring. I'm starting to consider a notebook cooler, though, as we're in the dog days of summer here and it's warm (108 degrees F tomorrow). The recent review in this forum of notebook coolers is worth reading.

I Read the review of the cooler. It seemed it was more appropriate for resting the lappy on a desk, in that the fans would just blow hot air onto your lap.

when i put my laptop in my lap i try to sit cross-legged or with my legs apart so that the fan isn't blocked an it can vent as much as possible. it definately helps.

    lmao
Usually its easiest to just use a piece of wood, or another hard flat surface.

yeah. if you have a small laptop, a book will do (obviously a large one). i've also been known to use a piece of cardboard when i put my laptop down on my bed or a couch.

Piece of nice wood...that's basically it. My laptop stays cool enough on its own that I don't require a cooler (although I've considered one for on my little laptop desk I made OR a passive cooler like one of those things that tilt it upwards.

But it still stays cool on the desk, so I haven't had a need for it yet...even if my AC isn't running (I hate AC anyways).

Yay MadDog! It's good to know I'm not the only one who hates AC. It's too cold and try to breathe well in.

I use a Targus Chillmat cooling pad - great to have for lap-users. Prevents you from blocking the fans, and keeps the laptop cool.

On the Targus Chill Pad I use (two fans) the air exits towards the back edge, so your lap does not block anything.

I rest my lappy on my lappy of course! I guess I have more tollerance than most, but I don't think it gets that hot most of the time.

I use the VanTec Lapcool 2, but i would use it mainly on a desk. It works great as a cooler though.

LOL yeah i know, I looked at coolers for a long time, for use on my lap...as thats when I don't want it burning my legs and want a cooler. It;s crazy how many coolers blow the hot air on to your lap, danm stupid if you ask me!

I have the Lapcool3, which has two fan which blow the air out the back, it works great, I just ordered a second one for my g/f. Works fine with my 15.4inch widescreen.
