I'd like to connect my ipad air 2 and thinkpad yoga to a TV easily, have it work every single time and not have to fidget around with controls very often.

-1. What kind of TV should I look into getting if I just want acceptable picture quality / acceptable viewing angles and maximum screen space at a budget price?

    0. The title question

    1. I've never had the kind of port that is on the ipad air 2 before. It is definitely not HDMI and I noticed lots of TV's have HDMI. What do I need to do to make this easiest?

    2. I want to be able to swap between the ipad air 2 and the thinkpad yoga with the TV quickly. What do I need to do?

kneehowguys, for Air 2 you need Lightning Digital AV adapter. Sadly, cheaper alternatives don't seem to exist.

For Thinkpad Yoga you need a micro HDMI to HDMI adapter or cable. I strongly recommend using short cable adapter ( example), to avoid stress on your micro-HDMI port which both direct adapter and cable create, especially the former.

Add standard HDMI-HDMI cable and any more or less modern TV and you're ready to go, both with your Yoga and iPad. You will be swapping out adapters when switching between devices.
