Hey, I have been looking around for a really good laptop backpack, and I have narrowed it down to about 3 choices:

    1- Ogio Metroid ($75)
    2- North Face Surge ($110)
    3- Spire Torq ($140 w/ +$30 optional boot)

The main things I am looking for are:

    A bag that looks cool
A bag that holds a lot but isn't clunky and doesn't get in the way
A bag that is easy to use and not cumbersome.
A bag that protects my laptop but doesn't waste space with lots of foam and junk (I have a thinkpad t60)
A bag that will hold a laptop, cords, papers, and books

So I was wondering if any of you have any input or ideas on which one of the three is the best and why? Also if you have a different bag that you would recommend I would love to hear about it.

I use a Samsonite 225 Series Rafter. Its not too bulky but holds a lot of stuff and my d610 is swallowed by it as if it were nothing. Here in Europe it is about 65€.

I like my surge because it is really sturdy, it has shown no wear and tear yet and I am really rough on my bags.

I also like the straps on the side because I can determine how much I want the bag to pop out from my back. It is also easy on the back.

It also has a compartment for all my electronics and individual pockets for them.

It has a bottom compartment that I like

the best on is the one you like the most and comes with the features you need

personally a week or 2 ago i went to chicago's North Face store and found a great backpack (not actually made for notebooks) thats is water resistant, 1 fully waterproof compartment (even the zipper is treated), it has a elastic cushioned pouch that is perfect or a 15-17 Widescreen laptop! it meets all my needes and still looks GREAT!

I see why you are having a hard time choosing between these three, they are all really good packs.

I read all the specs and some reviews, and after this I believe the Spire Torq has the best combination of usable space, build quality, and organization among these three. This is one serious pack!

I just got the V2 Velocity Spyder Laptop Backpack last week and I love it. Its rugged and water resistant. I can fit my dell and gateway in it with power supplies and mouse with room for a little more.

It might be a little smaller than the ones you are looking at but it depends on how many books you need to carry.

    Check it out http://www.slappa.com/site/velocity.html
They want $110 but I got it at buy.com for $58 free shipping.

That looks like a well built and well featured pack. They also have one called the "Velocity Matrix" that looks good. I wish the internal volumes were listed.

They are nice in many ways, but I've found their bottom padding to be practically non-existent.
