Note: Tittle should be "What is the best Laser mouse"

I want to buy a mouse for the new laptop i am going to buy
it will not be a game mouse solely but i will play games such as Halo or Ea rail simulator and GTA sa, so maybe is best go for a game mouse?
i think i should get one from 1600-2000 dpi and i do want a laser mouse
not sure if wireless or with cable

I dont want the mouse be as smale and light as a tiny targus amu mouse
    thats too smale :

Currently i have a Microsoft starck:

As you can see it look very nice in the dark with the blue light on top.

Would be cool to have a mouse with light but is not nessesary
the closest i come to that in current marked "with quality" is the:

    Razor Copperhead 2000dpi:
But Razor is not easy get in spain
and on the downside it has cable.

The one i was recomended as the Best mouse is Logitech G7 (2000drpi):

Problem G7 is out of production and will not be easy to find
    but it sure look beautiful

Next is G5 same as G7 but with cable:
Problem with G5 it has cable and the blue color not totaly convince me
they only have the blue color here.

Then i heard the VX nano and revolution is good
but i dont know how smale they are i dont want a micro mouse:

    Vx revolution 3200 dpi
    [IMG]

    Vx nano 2000 dpi
    [IMG]

I prefer not having a mouse that is more expensive than VX nano/revolution
(around 69 euro) the only exception is the G7 if i can get that one.

I first though about a bluetooth mouse but i dont want that
need to be used sometime on a old computer that not has bluetooth.

So which one do i get
    Conditions are:

    - Not more expensive than the vx nano/revolution price class (69euro)
except G7 which i pay more for

    - Must be a Laser mouse for precission

    - Dpi minimum 1600 or better 2000

    - better if it has 2 batteries or/and if battery it last long

    My candidates are:
    Logitech G7
    Logitech G5
    Logitech Vx nano
    Logitech Vx Revolution
    Razor cobberhead
    or...any other ones?

The mouse must be good to play games with
and confortable for everyday use for internet browsings and computer.

Laser doesn't really help with precision much.. Laser was developed so it would work better on a larger variety of surfaces.

All of the above mentioned are good mice. The G5 in the US is actually a copper/silver color. This is the best choice for a gaming mouse, alongside the razer, but is very big, and won't be ideal if you plan on carrying it around(also generally need a larger surface area to work with). The razer is also a excellent gaming mice, and is a lot smaller. However, if the wire bothers you that much, the vx revolution and vx nano are also good mice. Although they aren't considered to be "gaming mice," they perform decent in gaming, and have some other nice features as well. I personally have the vx revolution(as I'm not a hardcore gamer), and I'm loving it.
The vx revolution will most likely be the most comfortable for everyday use, but will come second in gaming to the g5 and razer.

Here in Europe is the Blue color.
as for VX revolution i like better the "look" of the VX nano
what is the Difference between VX revolution and Vx nano?

And are you saying G5 are better than G7?
and if G7 was so good why did Logitech discontinue it so fast?

As for how big G5 is, is it bigger than Microsoft Starck
if it is then is too big, if is same size then is ok.

VX nano has 800 dpi, well below your minimum 1600.

I asked the shops here they may have a G7 for me they showed me one which they had reserved for another person it did look nice.

It concern me a lot if the mouse is bigger than my current Microsoft Starck mouse
so let me ask is the G7 smaler than G5?

i think G7 is my best option if i can get it
shop also recomended me MX revolution
Should Mx revolution be the one to get if i cant find G7 or G5 here? (yea i know is huge thats a a little problem)

I dont buy Nano then since is too slow only 800dpi

Also is there any current good Mouse from Microsoft?
someone with light as Starck ?

You should check out the logitech G9 it is a great mouse I just ordered one the other day. it has 3200 dpi, interchangeable grips and weights, and I have heard the scrollwheel on it is great as well,

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/3053&cl=us,en

there is a link to the information page about it.

(edit: sorry did not notice you had a price limit if that is the case this might be to much sorry)

Right now I'm using a Razer Diamondback, and I can say, that I'm quite pleased with its performance. Though the light is very bright at times, its fine.

Another thing to watch out would be the build up from sweat and other icky stuff from your hand, it gets annoying :/

I'm probably going for the G5.. Most people like it over the Razer Diamondback.. I just have only heard people favoring the G5 in comparison to the Diamondback.

I had the G5 and I just bought the Microsoft Sidewinder. I love it. It has a great feel. They both are really good mice but I use my G5 with my Laptop on the go and my Sidewinder with the G15 keyboard when I dock the Laptop.

Razer is out of question anyway not known in spain (Except online and import shops, but i may get a copperhead later on over internet )

I probaly go for a logitech mouse G7 or G5
if i can get G7 i defently get that one since is no longer in production
and has 2 batteries, one is charing while another one is being used
But G5 is next on my list after G7.

i think it is better for you to get the G5 over the G7. the reason is because of the 2 thumb button. the G5 has back/forward button. the G7 has back button only! now, the battery. the G7 uses li-ion battery which loose its ability to hold charge overtime. now, you say that it is hard to get the G7 in your area? that increase your chances of getting old stock, you don't know how long its been sitting in stock, so the battery could go bad, or nearly dead. probably you only getting 2/3 (even 1 year!) year good use out of it. which is not good by any mean.

the VX revolution is a very good mouse, it is big enough for long hour use, you'll be pleasantly surprised. the vx revolution glide better than the g5 through the more generously used teflon feet. the 800dpi is more than enough, unless you have screen bigger than 1920x1200, and want the absolute quick and precise movement.
for your information i turn down the sensitivity on my g5 when using my mouse at 1920x1200.

so in short. get the G5.

That's incorrect. The G5 is available in both the textured crinkle blue and the smooth coper/silver as well. I like the feel of the smooth one better myself.

I say go for the G5, no battery hassles.

the copper/silver version is actually the old version. the blue one is the new 2007 version. it features 2 thumb button (back/forward) and it also fix the complain about the scroll wheel click/side scroll issue. definitely at this point; get the blue 2007 G5. don't recommend the old copper/silver G5 over the new blue G5 at all.

I'll be picking up one of those soon enough. I've been meaning to overhaul the input devices for my desktop this year but I'll see how things go. My local Best Buy just got the Lachesis in stock (I don't know where they got the name 'Banshee' from, never heard of that).
    http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=72

Right now I have a Copperhead and it is amazing. I've been using it for well over a year and before that I had a Diamondback. All Logitechs feel the same to me which is why I don't buy them - for my gaming mouse anyway. Their notebook mice are great. I don't like the feel of the G5, it feels generic compared to the Razer. Razer mice are very . . . specialized.

Razer Lachesis, I think 4000 DPI is too much for gaming...its more for Graphic Designers who need highly precise movements.

I have Razer Deathadder and man..I love it!!

As for the thread.... g5 or g7 is best for you coolvibes as many said.

Good news, The man going to buy the last G7 shop had in stock didnt show up, so the shop said they reserved the G7 for me.
Sure I may risk getting bad battery but this shop has very clean spaces with proper ventilation.

The good thing about G7 is i dont have to worry about cables when moving my laptop around inside my home that was one thing that bothered me
also having a cable is also a risk that cable can get damaged over time (this has already happened to some mouses i had)

as for Vx revolution the shop is unwilling to order it since they already have MX revolution so the encouarge me get Mx revolution instead.

It may be possible i can order G5 if you think i should get that over G7
i can ask next week see if they can get it.

I know i would be happy with either G5 or G7 so is the choice of Wireless or another extra button for a cheaper price.

The G7 the shop have is the Grey light one not a black a pity since i realy liked the black G7 color but anyway i can live with a grey one.

Should i get the G7 thats so hard to get that was nr.1 on my Priority list
remember i may not get another chance getting a G7, or should i ask the shop if they can order G5?

I can always get a G5 later but if i want a G7 i have to go ebay since is out of stock and discontinued in my area

This is the G7 they have avaible:

This is the G5 version i can order instead of g7:

Actually i liked the Black G7 better than the grey one
but it surely would be crazy to argue about colors in the shop
if i going to make them order a G5 instead i need a better argument

I'm assuming that the back and forward buttons on the G5 are only usable and configurable by using the Logitech drivers, is this correct?

On my vx revolution, the back and forward buttons work without the included software.

However, you need the setpoint software if you want to configure the buttons to do anything else besides back/forward.

BTW, just saw a Microsoft Habu Mouse in Best Buy last night...it said it used 'Razer Technology' and damned if it didn't look like a deathadder....anyone know anything about this? (it was corded)
