I'm looking for one for my notebook (HP Nx9420). I use a Logitech Mini Optical mouse (my favorite mouse) and I want something that will allow it to glide across the pad as if it was on ice. I bought a pad that had a really comfortable gel wrist rest, but there was too much friction between my mouse and the surface of the pad. The pad had a grainy texture and it was hard.

You looking for a gaming mouse pad? Cause there are dozens of those out there and that'll probably be the results you get when you ask for the best mousepad.
-
An icemat perhaps?

Two mousepads to consider are the Allsop Metal Art and the Razer eXactMat.

I'm a fan of both the original icemat and the steelpad 5L - but it is personal preference...Hard or soft, cheap or expensive, big or small. And also do you want it to last a year or more? Will you clean it? And do you need it for anything more than Word, Excel and IE/Firefox? Gamers and designers need better surfaces than surfers and so spend more money... but as with most things in computers, it's up to the individual. Try before you buy is perhaps the best advice - even when it comes to mouse pads...

I used to have a Ratzpadz GS.... until it seemed to start wearing down after a few years. I use an icemat now, and its pretty good. i had to get one of those gel palmrests because my wrist would really start hurting since my hand would be on the glass the whole time.
As rcadian said, it all depends on your use too =[ -
You might want to check out the frictionless mouse feet that ThinkGeek carries. I don't know how well they work, but you get quite a few sets for like $10.

my CSS headshotting pwn4g1ng 0wn1ng combo: Logitech MX518 (that came with my asus G1) and everglide giganta (with the wrist pad)
i've tried the mousefeet before... didn't make a difference to me... both the mouse and the mouse pad are good enough and didn't need to add any other peripherals -
I use a normal mouse pad. One of those with the grip on the bottom and the cloth on the top. I got one which says "www.redhat.com" and it works really well, no problems at all.

Icemat 2nd edition FTW. It looks damn cool (at least that's what the box says).
-
It is pretty cool in that the glass layer is on top, so you can see the black Icemat logo all frosted underneath
What is your favorite mousepad?
