I am trying to decide on a new mouse and can't choose. I am thinking about the Rat 7 or 9, the mamba, or maybe something from Razer. I play mostly Battlefield 3 and Black Ops II but do some WOW and Starcraft too. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

i have the mmo7 i wouldnt get it for fps games though. I really like it considering the only problem i have with it is the autolock buttons. The rat 7 and 9 are basically the same mouse with few less buttons. Feels different at first but really is a nice mouse.

If you're considering a mouse for MMOs too..then have you looked at the Razer Naga?

Logitech G5, love the weight(s) and the shape is perfect for my huge hands. Just got a Razer Orochi for my laptop, we'll see how that goes before I start recommending it.

    SteelSeries Sensei for me.

I've personally tested every gaming mouse from SteelSeries, Logitech, Razer, CM Storm, Roccat and I guess there's a mouse for everyone. But for me, there's just no topping the Sensei.

The DeathAdder comes in second but there are still a few issues I have with its general button layout at the bottom.

Why do you prefer the Sensei? I was considering the Sensei, but the 2 side buttons on the right side of looked like they would be uncomfortable as a right-handed user (and vice versa for a left-handed user).

Surprisingly, you don't feel the buttons on the sides at all. It's position and sloped in such a way that you barely feel them there.

Also the features such as multiple on board profiles really takes the cake for me. I can switch from an FPS to RTS mode with just a few flicks of the mouse wheel and buttons so it's pretty convenient. Also the design of the mouse is comfortable enough for long hours of usage.

The comfort depends on your grip and style.

I had Razer Lachesis, Mamba and now Taipan.

The Lachesis felt great, it was a really good mouse but it was getting old. I replaced it with a Mamba.
The Mamba felt too big for me and it was uncomfortable, I have been using it for a year but it's still felt awkward.
Then I decided to go back to an ambidextrous mice and got the Razer Taipan few months now. I am very delighted with the buy.

If you are not fan of Razer, I would recommend Steelseries Sensei too, it is a great mouse.

I had a Copperhead, Krait and Abyssus. It was probably my bad luck but all three of them did not last more than a collective 12 months when I had them.

Then again, I spent a lot of time in a gaming and custom PC store to know that the number of Razer gear that got sent in for RMA has steadily increased over the years.

I've got a rat 5 and I love it. Though if you buy a rat mouse, the sensors really are an issue so I'd advice buying a decent trackpad (I have a razer scarab). Also, the sensor drift has happened to me and it makes doing anything impossible.. Hasn't happened since June so I'm hoping I'm done with it. And I contacted their support and they'll send you a replacement mouse if need be.

Btw, if you don't want to spend the money on the rat 7 but want the interchangeable pads and stuff you can buy them separately on their site to use for the rat 5 or 3.

Right now, I use the Logitech G9x and have no issue with it. Adjustable weights, two sets of shells (one suitable to palm grippers like myself, another for claw grippers), and sensitivity is adjustable on-the-fly. Also, it usually goes on sale at Newegg for ~$60.

    M.M.O 7 , R.A.T.9 (2011) , R.A.T 9 (2012) ,Razer Ouroboros.

Since everyone mentioned R.A.T i'm not going to write anything.

Razer ouroboros is a great mouse that I used for gaming around 5-7 hours and idle without switching it off it last 3days
This mouse really comfortable but it has some software issue which memory leak , battery indicator not sync with the software , wireless dock sync times takes forever...

Logitech Performance MX is really great mouse that im using @ my office but not for gaming use.

I'm currently using a G500 with 1000mhz polling and maxed out weights. Still the best mouse I ever tried. It's also very comfortable. (even when I use it as a claw gripping mmo mouse)

I use the Logitech G500, filled with 1.7g weights in. It's a good mouse though I'm still getting used to the tiny scroll buttons on the left hand side as I do accidently click on them while browsing online so it goes back and forth frustratingly.

I use a Mionix Naos 5000 (design is a rip off of the Ikari) with the extra 40g in it set at 1600 DPI with the DPI switch button set to 800 and 2000 as min/max.

I love my G500 and before that I had the G5 for literally 6-7 years, it didn't even break I just decided it was time to replace it. Logitech customer support is excellent and I've never had a better mouse.

If you are looking for purchasing a mouse then suggestions won't cut it. We will give you product A, B and C but that will just give you more things to look at and won't help you much at all. If possible the best thing to do is go to a store that will allow you to demo the different mouses because really it's all personal preference. My friend loves his Death Adder but i can't stand using it. Though i can't use any other mice than the Logitech G400 shape.

Baka uses the Razer Naga Hex ._. It's called a MOBA mouse but the 6 side buttons feels just like it's the right amount even for MMOs. Naga's 12 side buttons feels too much :x So far Baka is loving the mouse though :)

Had a logitech G700 for two years or so. That was great. Very precise, comfortable (half claw grip, half palm) and works well enough as a wired mouse (also, heavy, which for me was a big bonus). Ran it at 4800dpi most of the time.

Now, I've changed it to a 'CM sentinel adv.2', just to have something new. .. Well, to be honest, I am not all that happy with this one. I mean, it works, and it isn't *bad* at anything, but it just doesn't seem to be as high-end as the logitech was. The shape is a little bit too awkward for a claw grip - it is too long and too narrow at the front, and all the weight is in the mouse's butt. The dpi display is actually annoying, as you cannot affect its colour, so it clashes with the mouse and the leds it has. Sensor seems to work fine, at least, and I like that it keeps all the profile settings onboard (so no screwing around with cloudsaves and drm nonsense as in Razer's new drivers).

Logitech G500 right now... absolutely love it.

I had a RAZR Orrochi last... great mouse as well but I really prefer the button layout of the g500 and its size. If you have fairly large hands the g500 is really nice

Although as a pure gaming mouse the G500 is only mediocre, my hands are on the smaller side of average yet I love the shape as well. Hand size =/= mouse size.

@Quing, Yeah i know what you mean. I dont game nearly as much as I used to and never used a claw-like gaming mouse grip.

Im about 6' 4inches so finding a big gaming mouse is rather difficult for me. The Razer Orochi I had was way small but I made it work. I think if I had smaller hands I would probably try the Logitech G9X. Im a fan of Razer mice as well but the build quality of my G500 just seems to be superior to that of my old Orochi.

    Hi,

I've recently purchased the Logitech G9x mouse, and love it. If you have ever used the Alienware Tactx mouse, its design was based off the G9x (or so I was told). The main difference is the one feature the G9x has that the Tactx doesn't - a weight system! I find it to be great. A lot of people don't feel a difference at first, but play with a weighted mouse for a couple months then go back to a regular mouse, you'll notice it and never want to go back to plain old mice again.

Grab the MW3 version for only $43 on amazon. You basically save 50% because it is branded for that game. Even if you dislike MW3 (I'm not a big fan either), get the mouse - it's a steal for that price.

    Hope that helps. :)

No, it doesn't. The TactX mouse is a G9x derivative made by Logitech for Dell. It lacks changeable grips and weights, but it adds multi-colored lights.

It's a great mouse, nice feel and looks stunning BUT!!! The wireless is a bit hit and miss. And the batteries degrade pretty quick.

My next mouse will be the RAT 7. The wired one.

Ive also heard great things about the Naga. Not sure if I would like the button layout on the side of the mouse though. I barely can remember to use the three buttons on my mouse as it is. I dont know how I would react to 12 LOL

The Tactx is just a rebranded Logitech G9x without the adjustable weights. Haven't used a Steelseries, but against the DeathAdder, my G9x felt more comfortable to me and from what I hear, Logitech has the better customer service.
