I've never tried one of these so I'm of little help...but it does seem like a cool concept, pardon the pun.

I have a Targus cooler pad. NOT the one with the risers on it. Mine hooks to my USB port and keeps it pretty cool. ~$30? at COMPUSA

Are you using this ?

How is it ? Is it noisy in your opinion ? -
Ya know, I have to relay something... I always thought these things were stupid, but after this weekend, I see the value.
I'm on a plane coming back from a weekend trip to Alabama. Not a vacation area, per se, but I was born there and gotta keep in touch with family. I took my V505, first time I've taken it on an extended trip. Alabama is about a 5 hour flight, so I decided to pass the time by playing Command and Conquer Generals. Mind you, I've played before on my NV190 and never had/noticed heat issues. Probably because an NV190 is much larger (think GRT size) and there is more room for heat to be dissipated. Well, I get edgy (hate sitting still for long periods of time) and put my laptop on...my lap. Immediately I felt the heat of the CPU working...within 5 minutes, it was too hot and I put it back on the seat tray. This was the first time I ever had a laptop that heated to a point where I couldn't leave it in my lap. Needless to say I'll be watching this thread to see which coolpad everyone likes better. -
I have decided on this :

It works for me so far, on the desk. I doubt it will work on your lap.
Can't beat that for $5. -

Dingster1, how is the power situation? Do you notice a significant loss in battery life when using? I like that one by Targus because it's flat. An on/off switch is also a good idea to help manage power.
