I don't know what the best portable external hard drive is. Many brands make portable external hard drive, such as Western Digital, Toshiba, Seagate, Maxtor ....
I need a recommend from you.

Personally I use a Western Digital Passport - the main advantage with this is that it is powered and connects via only one cable - ie you only use one usb port on your notebook.
I also have a Maxtor, not bad although needing to use two USB ports is a pain as you need one for data and the other for power.
WD Passport gets my vote -
I would say either a Western Digital Passport, or a Seagate FreeAgent Go. Or, if you really want to make an external hard drive your own, you could buy your own hard drive and stick it in a compatible external hard drive enclosure. In most cases, this route could save you money. It's what I did with a Seagate 2.5" 7,200RPM 320GB 16MB cache HDD and a Silverstone SST-TS01B external hard drive enclosure.
