    Hi,

I'm going to buy a m570TU based laptop and I've heard the onboard speakers are not so great.

I need some portable speakers that will be good for watching movies and playing music. Something that can delivere volum and quality in music. And it should be portable enough to fit in a suitcase without taking to much space and if possible fit in the same backpack as my laptop.

Preferrable something that only needs usb-power, but if that don't give enough volum i would consider something that need external power.
Also I do not want a lot speakers. 5 seperate speakers is no good. The fewer and more portable the better.

Budget is around $500, but I will only spend that much if I need to.

    Any good suggestions?

Im a "audiophile" (a poor one :p) but I would wait for more feedback on those before I drop that much money and honestly for travel I would stick with some high quality earbuds/headphones and for home I want something bigger for Bass.

I have been very happy with those Plantroincs Pulsar 590's I got, they sound very good and I love the no wires deal, and they stay charged forever.

Yeah I read it in the article, but most people never follow thru with those just due to the pain in the behind it is to return things. That or there is fine print.

If my wife made more money something like this would be on my christmas list, as its something I would enjoy a lot but not something I would probably ever go buy for myself.

Infact thats not a bad idea :p I should start to compile A list of things I would like and let her pick one :p if I make this the cheapest thing on there... lol

For something in this price range, I will return it if it doesn't perform well. I may get this before my next trip overseas but that won't be for another couple months.

Yeah, V20s are very good for portability. I'm currently using them as my main speakers and they lack a bit in that regard, but for portables, if you pick them up refurbished, they're great.

I don't know if any decent speakers could be called "portable" - in the strictest sense... but a couple of others (besides the Creative Gigaworks T20/T40) you might want to consider are Logitech's Z-10's (USB/Touchscreen) +/or Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0 (Mains powered/3.5mm jack) ;)

    Thanks for the input!

The last poster was spot on to what I was looking for. It does not have to be portable in the sense that i can put it in my pocket or take it with me everywhere. It just have to be portable enough to fit in a suitcase without taking up too much space. The Klisch seems perfect, but i need to see the size of them in real-life at my local retailer before I will make a decision.

Amazon.com. I purchased it through one of the sellers, 4Baos. I think they only had one set (brand new) because they no longer have a listing for the V20. It was 39 and change.

Can't wait till I get them.

You might find that info in reviews?
