Hi, I'm wondering, should I buy any of the cleaning products sold in computer stores? Do they work well? Anyone recommend anything specific for cleaning my laptop screen (glossy)?

If you stay on top of it some distilled water and a very soft cloth. If more is needed stay away from Ammonia and alcohol. Problem with lens cleaners and glass cleaner's is your screen is not glass, it has coatings. The problem with Ammonia in particular but even over use of alcohol is it can damage the coatings. I have read "yellowing" in particular.
If you use an alcohol based cleaning solution occasionally I doubt it will harm. But for daily clean soft cloth by itself should be enough. If you need more the distilled water.
Others might mention premade cleaners. I would only use them on an as needed basis when the two I mentioned do not work.
Edit: Oh and keep your finger away from your screen, an ounce of prevention. -
I use a microfiber cloth and some cleaning solution. They sell kits and it works well.

I have some Monster Cable screen cleaner I bought for my LCD HDTV. I use the same stuff on my CRT and LCD monitors as well and it works great! There is no streaking and the solution really gets the dirt off. I always use a microfiber cloth.
Monster Cable Screen Cleaner with Microfiber cloth. -
Alright, thanks for the responses guys. I'll try using distilled water and a soft cotton cloth and see how it works out. It's the cheapest option so far, hopefully it does a good job

Microfiber cloth with some water does the trick and cleans absolutely perfectly.

I'm not too sure why but even monitor wipes and Microfiber cloths leave streaks on my screen, and the only thing that has actually worked to bring it back to when I first got my laptop is Rubbing Alcohol with one of those monitor wipes that I have, although I don't do this very often.
Maybe its just how my display is. -
You should never use ammonia or alcohol (or acetone, tap or mineral water) on the screen as stated, because it will deteriorate the plastics that protects the panel and/or leave streaks due to dissolved minerals. Distilled water (or you can add some vinegar too) is the preferred solution.
There are many different levels of quality for microfiber clothes, the most noticeable thing to look at on purchase is polyamide percentage (typical is 20%, more is better), but the more important factors are actually the diameter of the fibers, how the fibers are split and finished, and fiber density. I've found that microfiber clothes for cleaning cars are typically of pretty good quality. Also, wet the cloth, not the screen. -
Yes I know it dissolves the plastic, but I've only done it maybe 3 or 4 times since I've gotten it; I've even tried Distilled water and it still didn't seem to do any better than specific monitor wipes, which I've seen work on other people's notebooks pretty well. I suppose its a good thing I don't have to clean my screen that often when I don't have to carry it outside anyway.

Microfiber has always been a FTW for me : ) And, even your "warm breath" on the screen w/the microfiber cloth helps clean!
