Just got an Acer Aspire 5633. It obviously comes with internal speakers, but they are are obviously not high quality speakers.

I'm looking to get some new speakers. The only problem is my Acer has a 3.5mm input on the front, which is a bit of an annoying place to have speaker wires coming out of.

So can anyone suggest what I do? I don;t what extraordinary volumes, just enough quality and volme for my flat room at university. (for films, and music).

Are usb speakers good quality> (in conparison with internal laptop speakers)

    eg these

There are some docks that put a 3.5mm plug in the back. May be worth it if you like the other features as well.

Cheers for the idea, but I ca't really afford to do that and then buy the speakers.

I'm either going to get some usb speakers If I find out they are good enough, or just put up with the wire in the front.

You could always get a sound card if the plug in front annoys you (express card/PCMIA is on the side, right?)

I have no real complaints about my Logitech X-230's... apart from the sound quality being that of a $30 set of speakers (I wonder why!? ;)). I'll hopefully be replacing them with a reciever + bookshelves this winter, but that is moved up a price bracket or two.

I got the Logitech V10 speakers. The sound isnt fabulous being very weak on bass but they are small and usb driven.

Has made it feasible to carry them when I'm on the road to listen to music, watch movies and listed to books on cd.

If you can accomodate a larger form factor the v20's are likely a good option.

    Good luck
