Firstly, if this is in the wrong section please move it. Im in the middle of getting new speakers, and had these two models in mind. Logitech X530, and Z5300. The 530s are about 140 bucks, and the Z5300 is about 350 bucks. Are the the Z5300 speakers worth the extra cash? Or will the X530s suffice? Il be using them for music, games, etc etc. If anyone out there owns one of these, please comment on them. thanks!

    Two completely different categories.

95% of the time something like the X530 will suffice. Probably in your case too.

If you're an audiophile you will benefit from the Z5300. They give better sound and have much more wattage to play at higher volumes without distortions.

But your room better give you good acoustics. Stick even the bestest of the bestest in some crippled 5-by-5-foot space, and you won't get the amazing effect you're hoping for.

All depends on the budget you designate for your speakers.

BTW, I don't like the X530 because their bass volume control is on the back of the subwoofer. What a stupid design.

Agreed, the x530's are good, but the Z530's are on another level.

I have the x530's, and it does fine for me :)

I have the older Z-680s (same line as Z5300s I believe) and love them. Yeah, they are a little overkill for my 10ft by 15ft room. It's fun to tune into the natural frequency of my house and shake the whole property though.

please think about your decision, again,

unless you really have your heart set on 5.1 i would go for the Z-2300 system, it is the best 2.1 system available and can be had for $100 shipped, i really think the difference between the Z-530 and Z-2300's will be phenomenal, Z-2300 is 200watts/400peakwatts.

i can almost guarantee the Z-2300's will outperform the Z-530 even though they are only 2.1

Z-530 are only 70 Watts Z-2300 is 200, big difference in output that is, 3 inches of extra sub doesn't hurt either :)
and with this much more wattage z 2300 is distortion free and THX certified.

and are your prices including shipping? the retail on Z530 is $80 Z5300 is $199, i don't think shipping could be that much

Of course the Z-2300 are going to produce better sound than the X-530. Question is do you need/want surround.

If you're going with Z5500, I'd advise Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra instead.

i think there are also 5.1 systems now available with all wireless or back wireless satelite speakers, which would be amazing
