I have a Satellite M35X S163 and I want to be able to utilize my IOGEAR wireless headset on SKYPE.

I am retarded (lol) so I am clueless as to what I am supposed to buy/add to make this work.

Please guide me in the right direction.

if you has a BT usb dongle your computer has something wrong with it(drivers, faulty parts, ect)

I had a toshiba a year ago, and trust me they are know to have bad(motherboards, screens, soundcards, and cd/dvd drives.

my motherboard burnt up the same night that i bought the computer (only 3 hours use)

I have a simular question. If I want bluetooth enable for my 1150, what bluetooth adapter would you recommend for plug & play (which means no driver install, XP will reconise it).

    Thank you.

The one I said I have works with no drivers. It is based on the widcomm chipset, which is used in many other dongles, such as MSI's.

I install drivers because good old WIN XP's built in drivers don't support headsets (missing stack).

I like the fact that it works with the generic drivers so I don't need to wait for the manufacturer to provide updates. Last time I even used MSI's drivers with mine :p I needed to resolve a sound delay issue with my headset

BTW for mouse, keyboard, and some others, no need for drivers. But for headsets drivers are a must with Win XP, no matter what dongle you get. (Some dongles don't ship with drivers, watch out for those, you can never be sure what chipset they have and how hard it will be to locate drivers for them in case you needed them at some point)

Thank you Thank you Thank you....what some kind and thoughtful responses I got from you guys. I don't know WHY I thought buying the IOGEAR pack that I did, had everything IN it that I needed.

    :)

Maybe one day I can pick your brains on HOW the heck to make the Atheros WIFI work with my city's DSL/Satellite style system, so I can go back to being WIRELESS once again.

I lived in Atlanta for 15 years, and recently moved back to my childhood hometown.

(((Pop. 12,240))) so you can imagine I don't have ANYONE to ask techie questions to here :D LOL

you're welcome. visit us again and pick on our brains as much as you want :p

By the way I am not sure what version of bluetooth your headset uses (1.1 or 1.2 or 2.0). Most likely not 2.0 cause that is very new and very few headsets have it. But if it is 1.2, then get a 1.2 or 2.0 dongle. versions 1.2 and 2.0 support channel hopping, what that does, is change the channel/frequency automatically when there is interference. Especially that BT operates at the same frequency as wifi (2.4GHz), and so are prone to interfere on each others.

If you get a 1.1 dongle and your headset is a 1.2, it would still work. But your headset will work at 1.1 standard, and therefore no channel hopping.

    hope this helps some more.

Thank you qwester. Hm, what about bluetooth headphone? I am guessing it mostly will need the driver for it, huh? Yeah, almost the same as headset.

I believe headsets and headphones, both are not supported by XP, but I could be wrong.

If you are using a BT 2.0 audio device (much higher quality than 1.1 & 1.2) then for sure you need drivers.

Thank you. Now for the final question, can I get an internal bluetooth? :D hehe. I really doubt that, hehe. I have to wait until I get a new laptop, which it wont in years. :(

    Anyway, thanks again.

pcmcia is as internal is it can get (if your laptop never had a BT option)

I remember someone here posting pics of rewiring a USB port and putting the receiver for his wireless mouse on the inside. So the same can be done for a BT dongle if you feel like doing the work :D

Yeah, I remember seeing that, like last month, I think. I dont feel like doing the work. ;) hehe. Beside, my notebook is still under warrenty, yup still.

Unfortunately, my PCMCIA slot is currenty using as a 6-1 card reader. But I have no compact flash reader. While I was surfing around for bluetooth adapter, I saw this.

    http://sewelldirect.com/bluetooth-p...rce=froogle&utm_source=Froogle&utm_medium=cse

Its a PCMCIA compact flash adapter with bluetooth compact flash card. And I was wondering, instead of getting that, I am wondering getting a cheap compact flash PCMCIA reader and cheap compact flash bluetooth. Would that work?

Of course, I need to get a compact flash bundle with Windows driver.
