I have a hp g62 with a bad cpu. So I want to transfer the contents of the hdd to my new laptop. The hdd is Hitachi HTS725032A9A364 same as this:
Newegg.ca - Hitachi GST Travelstar 7K500 HTS725032A9A364 (0A72333) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Is this enclosure compatible?
Amazon.com: Vantec NexStar TX 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure: Electronics

Yes, that should be fine but shop around might get cheaper, like this: Black USB 2 0 SATA 2 5" HD HDD Hard Disk Drive Enclosure External Case | eBay
-
StormJumper Notebook Virtuoso
They could just do as well with a USB adapter to HDD and hook that hard drive to their new computer and just transfer the data over without all the hassle of using a ext HDD enclosure. I use that less costly and if the HDD dies after that process all they are out is the money spent on the USB adapter kit which would cost alot less then the enclosure kit itself would.
example:
Kingwin Kingwin EZ-Connect USB to SATA/IDE Adapter

What?
The enclosure kit was only $6.50 shipped.
That adapter you linked to is $22 shipped... -
They both do what you need it to do. However, the enclosure will allow you to use the extra hard drive for other uses such as storage. The adapter can be used if you have many hard drives laying around and do not want to go through the hassle of putting it into the kit. Instead you just hook it up to the adapter and hook the other end into computer.
If you just have one extra hard drive, then just get the enclosure, the 6.50
What type of hard drive enclosure do I need?
