Been thinking to buy a headset for gaming. Most preferably one that is not too expensive, but will last pretty long and is of good quality.
Can anyone recommend any good ones available in Asia (I am currently based in Manila, Philippines)?
I've been looking at Creative and Logitech headsets and some look alright.

Logitech G35 headset is nice
-
the Creative Labs fatality are sitting on my desk. forty bucks.
-
CyberVisions Martian Notebook Overlord
I've got the Logitech USB, and since I've been known to game online for a long time (20 hours+) if you want something that's comfortable, that's the one. It also has a selector switch for music, gaming and voice and automatically adjust the setup for whatever you select it to so you have the optimum input/output for whatever you're doing. -
Some closed headphones. Brand doesn't matter.
-
logitech g35 $129. top of the line 7.1 surround sound.
Steelseries, razer makes some decent middle entry headsets just look for some reviews and do the research as to what you want because headsets are pretty much up to personal pref...too many variables.
cheap site to get what you want is newegg.com, of course always look at best buy/ebay/amazon so you can get an idea of the price. -
Logitech G35.
-
If you want to go the cheap route, I got some Koss SB-40 headphones from Amazon since a lot of people over at the [H] Forums recommended them. They are great for sound but the mic is a little crappy but ok for general vent talking.
-
Logitech G35 FTW then
-
Alright. Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll probably get Logitech.
One more question though, is there a significant difference with getting a headset that plugs into a USB and headphone jacks, as opposed to getting one that just plugs into the headphone jacks?
What's better with either one? -
If you have a really good sound card, you're better off getting a a really good pair of headphones and good enough mic. Those connecting by USB are like another sound card. You do however lose a USB port. They can't be powered by a low power USB hub as well.
-
I'd avoid anything that requires to be plugged in both the 3.5mm and the USB, because then that limits you to the computer only, you can use them with an mp3 player or another source. I would also avoid getting anything from logitech or creative as they're all pretty lousy in the sound department. For that matter, even the 'gamer' models from turtle beach are garbage. I'd say just get a nice set of headphones from Sennheiser or similar and a mic.
-
Logitech is not garbage. I definitely recommend the G35 if you can afford it.
Otherwise, Plantronics has a pretty good headset for around $40. I can't remember the model, though, sorry. -
@Mastershroom
OOT a little bit, I noticed you use Kingston HyperX SO-DIMM.
Why not use the Kingston HyperX ULL SO-DIMM?
CL4-4-4-12 in FSB 800, can go as low as CL3-3-3-9 on FSB 667. -
Thats what I did
Took my Sony headphones and attached free mic I got. -
Honestly, I'm used to the standard no-name 5-5-5-15 RAM that shipped with the notebook. I went with Kingston because I was looking to upgrade to 4GB anyway, and 4-4-4-12 timings are more than good enough for me. This isn't exactly a monster gaming laptop.
That, and the fact that I've never heard of HyperX ULL. ^_^ -
Well, just incase you're interested, here goes :

Wow. I'm sure that's great performance and all, but I didn't even spend $60 on my HyperX kit.
-
LOL
My 2GB Patriot DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-15 (4-5-5-13 @ 667MHz) cost me $37
I know the performance gain will not be significant, but still I'm curious of that RAM performance. No one seems to care to review it though
-
Probably because nobody cares enough to spend $200 to make a review.
-
How did we go from gaming headsets to ram discussions?
Anybody own the G35? How you like it? -
Oh man, I'm really LOL and LMAO reading the posts from both of you.
I really dont know man, I wonder myself how we can change topic so drastic in the middle of the discussion...
-
I was hoping by giving you the link to the product, you will be the 1st to write a review...
LOL
-
no one owns the g35 yet, it will be released early april according to logitech.
-
Early April for the US? o.o Ah heck I'll just order one then <.< It's kinda slow here in the UK... May I heard
-
couple reviews of the G35:

Gonna get this...will be somewhat pricey for a "non premier brand" headset but if the performance is as good as they say will be well worth it. -
I can tell you which one is NOT good, creative fatal1ty headset. most uncomfortable piece of crap i have ever worn.
-
I would like to buy the logitech g35, but I dont know if they would work with the games I play
Like FPS online games like Wolfteam, Crossfire and that kind of stuff. As u can see I'm a real noob in all this, I thought that all sounds will be great with these headphones, even youtube videos XD
So... if I have the logitech g35 and see a youtube video.. it would sound better than if I listen to it with a 20 bucks headphone? Or pretty much its the same?
This headphones just work good with certain things? -
Ditch the Logitech and get the Razer Megalodon. It looks much more sexier and seems better overall. Of course, i just use a pair of sony earphones for listening to music and dont really own any headset but the Megalodon were looking good. When i was ordering from Razer, which is a great company, i was deciding between that or the Mamba. I chose the Mamba, and im not disappointed.

Your games and your sound card need to support 7.1 in order to take full advantage of the surround sound capabilities of the G35. Even without that, though, they'll still be excellent in 2-channel stereo.
YouTube audio quality is crap to begin with. With something like the G35, you'll hear crap in greater detail.
What's a good gaming headset?
