    Hey everyone!

I'm new, just to let everyone know :). I was reading here somewhere, but I can't seem to find the laptop "cooler" pad that doesn't have fans, but instead its just like a pad that supposedly sucks the heat out. Does anyone know what it is called?

    Thanks!

Are you referring to passive cooling pads?

I'm not really sure what a passive cooling pad is. However, its just like a gel pad that claims to rid heat.

Ah yes that one. Thanks! I wasn't planning to get it, I was just interested in the concept. Does anyone personally own it or have used it? If its really that good, I might consider it.

i've been considering one for my M1530 as I use it on my lap 80% of the time. I'm careful with how I sit so as not to block the vents if at all possible... but it would be nice to find some good detailed technical reviews on these passive cooling pads. I haven't done much research yet, in fact I just started looking around this morning, but I will be looking at getting something in the next week or two. Cheaper the better, but i want something comfortable, light (read: also comfortable), and something that actually does the job of making my notebook not cook itself. i'm not worried about me, i'm worried about my investment! :)

I picked up a Lapinator recently ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=252219) and that's been working well for me. I particularly liked the fact that it was a rigid platform with little rubber feet that raised the back of the laptop slightly, allowing heat to escape from the gap and it didn't block any vent holes. The whole purpose of it was to keep the heat away from your lap so you can use the notebook comfortably on your lap but didn't trap the heat, not necessarily a cooler, per se (unless you count keeping yourself a bit cooler). It works fine for me.

Johnny T has a gel one and said it was effective for a few minutes and then it began to get hot. He said that he ended up freezing it and trying it except condensation issue and the fact hed have to freeze it every 5 minutes
