Obviously, I'm out of the loop. I've vaguely heard of Bluetooth, but don't really know anything about it or what the big deal is about it. Can anyone clue me in? Is it a must-have if you want wireless stuff now?

It's a short range wireless protocol. I use it to sync my phone to my computer without wires. I also use it with a mouse and keyboard while at my desk. On the road I can use my mobile phone as a modem, again all without wires. There are tons of applications, my favorite one being wireless headset for my mobile phone.

It's like IrDA except much higher bandwidth, safer and longer reach.

Wireless USB is a good concept but it won't replace Bluetooth. I wouldn't wait to see how this pans out to adopt Bluetooth.

Don't forget the connection between the phone and a bluetooth earpiece. No worry about getting the wire caught on the steering wheel and having the ear piece ripped out of your ear when you turn a corner. Not that that has happened to me. [)]

    Yes...you are correct sir Brian.

Wireless Usb will not replace Bluetooth.

It's just, many more people are familiar with USB...good or bad.
I perdict wider acceptance and support of a wireless version of it.

Soon, just like flash card rage going on now, It will turn to: wireless Usb... Everything!

Mice, trackballs, earpieces, headphones, Printers, remotes, Cellphones...ect.

It's just another 'flash' in the pan of marketing forcing upgrade. Making the already rich, richer and fatter (...finding it harder to squeeze their bulk behind the steering wheels of their already oversized SUV/truck status symbols).[:0]

Better...: ? (I'll only hope the set up is easier than Bluetooth and less 'lossy' signal)
