I am interested in getting a wireless mouse to go with my Dell 6000 (with internal Bluetooth build in). However, I am unable to make heads from tails on what to get.

I hear that optical mice can be jumpy and inaccurate.

I hear that laser mice are more accurate, but I can't find too many that are wireless.

I find few Bluetooth mice that don't require some large docking/charging unit; which seems to defeat the purpose of carrying something small and portable.

Many of the wireless mice do not seem to have an ON/OFF switch, thus they can awaken during transport and run the battery down. Pulling out batteries just seems to be an indication of a poor design.

So, I am unclear as to what to get? Can ~you~ lend a hand.

I want portability. I want wireless (I think, but maybe a retractable cord is the best bet). I'd like Bluetooth, so as to take advantage of my built-in BT. I DON'T want to have to carry around a docking/charging station.

I would really appreciate your help.

I just got a Logitech v500 from Amazon. There's also a $10 rebate floating around. It's not bluetooth, but I'll live and you might, too. The usb dongle hides in the mouse and the optics are accurate. Also, when you store the dongle in the mouse, it turns off The mouse can also be turned off by a switch on the bottom.

yes, ive seen that... but i would still recommend a corded one (you dont have to worry about running out of batteries. my faveorite is still Kensington's pocket mouse pro. i have one and i love it, the cable retracts inside the mouse for easy transport (and so you dont break it)

PS. I didnt know there was a diffrence between optical and laser? can someone fill me in here?

Might I suggest the Bluetake BT500? It works quite well with or without a dongle. It has an on/off switch. It does however, requires 2 AAA batteries. I use energizer rechargables. It is very light and accurate. My favorite use for it is gaming.

Does anyone actually have a laser mouse? I would like to know if they perform that much better then a normal optical..

Sharp AL27, Athlon 64 2700+ 60Gb hdd, 512Mb mem, 64Mb vid, superbright lcd. DVD +-/RW. Great choice for business use.

The only "laser" mouse I know of on the market is the logitech mx1000, which is wireless. The only difference is that regular optical mice use an LED to illuminate the surface to track, while a laser mouse shines a laser, producing a much more accurate view of the surface and makes for less jumpy behavior, not that my mx500 (typical optical mouse) jumps around or anything.
