Okay im really confused over this, but why does my vx nano not work on so many surfaces. I bought this mouse about a month ago and i mainly only used it at school and it worked perfectly on my school desk, now i started using it at home more as my primary mouse and it doesnt even work properly on my wooden finish desk, or on practically any glossy book or magazine, heck it doesnt even track well on a piece of paper. I don't own a mousepad because im using this mouse for portability, and the box clearly says it works on "virtually" any surface, which I'm starting to believe as false advertising. The only place that it works flawlessly is on a binder, but thats an annoyance because its tilted.

    Hey,
I've read around the the VX Nano isn't that friendly on all surfaces. As you can probably tell, I'm not the master of mice, so I'm just throwing ideas around here, but maybe the laser is faulty? Is there anything covering the laser that may restrict the amount of light is hitting the surface? Just reading some User Opinions and some other people are complaining of it not tracking too well, maybe it's an issue for this model.

    Anyway, Good Luck!

    Cheers.

Hmm, that's weird, because my MX Revolution will track on just about anything except for glass, and I would've thought that they would use the same sensor since they are in the same product line.

My VX Nano works everywhere. I used it on hard wood desks, plastic, all kinds of different gloss text books, even some more uneven wooden surfaces. It performs great! Are you batteries ok?

Could it be a battery problem? My battery life shows up at 70% on the logitech setpoint utility, says about 10 days left since i do use the mouse alot every day.
I have filed a complaint with logitech but haven't received a response yet.

I would see if Logitech will exchange it. I use VX Nano and love it. Works great on about every reasonable surface so far.

Unfortunately, thats not the case for me :(
Does yours track well on paper? Because mine works on paper, but it doesn't work well. I would see the mouse pointer skipping while i move it.

I just stacked three plain white pieces of paper on top of each other and it works fine now. Does yours skip, or jump, or just not move when you move the mouse? It might also be a bum transmitter or receiver.

I did drop mine once, and I think the optics got all screwed up. It would track fine horizontally, but not vertically. I called Logitech and told them what happened, they sent me a new one anyways.

I'm sure Logitech will do a cross exchange. Just register it online, call them and tell them you don't want to go without a mouse, and I'm sure they'll ship you a new one. Probably won't even have to send back the current one.

it skips, and the pointer speed is much slower compared to my school binder surface, which is optimal and very accurate. I'll probably call logitech tomorrow and ask them about this, plus i posted on their forums.
On top of that, yesterday the rubber finish started coming off on the arrow buttons on the left, it ruined the look and feel of those buttons and i barely ever use them, plus i carry my mouse in the protective case all the time.

Definitely sounds like a bum mouse. I don't quite abuse mine, but it gets smacked around quite a bit, and keeps on tickin' (knocks on wood).

    could be.
the vx nano is one of the most responsive mice out there.
unless your table is made of glass it should work very well.
well the first thing you should probably do is get a pair of fresh batteries and reseat the reciever.
i think i remember my vx nano loosing some movement sensitivity when the battery is running low.
    its my fav accesory.

    cheers

Yes, true. Always try a fresh set of batteries first. It can definitely act flaky when they get low.
