I am trying to find a backpack or sleeve for my new dell 1564. I am not sure if I would search on line or just go to a local store (walmart, officemax.)
Where did everyone get theirs?

a normal backpack will suffice for a college campus or high school. If you are climbing Mt. Everest then I suggest leaving the laptop at home.

lol.
My plans are to probably buy a laptop sleeve and they maybe a decent backpack to carry around the notebook around in.
I am thinking of a sleeve like these maybe?

I do like the first one more though. Just because there is no zipper to worry about breaking. -

I like the second one most, they do have zippers but they are great quality, doubt they would ever break with normal use.
I honestly do recommend a good backup, I've had backpacks under $50 and eventually they all died horrible deaths. The just don't last. Spend a little more and get a great quality backpack and you'll have it for years and years.
Take a look at some of these cheaper backpacks, they all do a pretty decent job. Also they are good value for what you get. I know a couple people with the Swiss Gear one, or at least one very similar and they like it a lot.

If you can find a way to spend close to $100 you should look at this backpack, it is pretty awesome for the price. I was look at it the other day and was very impressed. I've also found them online for around $85 shipped if you live in the US.

Sounds to me like someone is a bit of an Oakley fanboy. I have a Belkin Core series 15.6" backpack and a Solo Check Safe 15.4" sleeve. The backpack holds everything of mine, to include my notebook cooler, just fine and even comes with a little pouch for your AC adapter. At Walmart, they run about $25 to $30 if I remember correctly. The sleeve I got cost me about $10 at Sam's Club.
Also, a word of advice. Get a universal AC adapter for your notebook. The Dell one will most likely crap all over itself. -
Does your 15.6" notebook fit fine in a 15.4" sleeve?
I will have to go check out that Belkin Core series backpack. -
Yep, it fits just fine. The only 15.6" notebook that I had problems with when it came to putting it in a case was my old Gateway MD2614u. However, that notebook was on the market back when you didn't see a ton of 15.6" notebooks available.

try giving meritline a shot you can usually find sleeves real cheap from this site.
heres the link to 15.4" sleeves there is also a 16" category but that is real limited in selection

Got a nice Swiss Army bag from Staples. $80, holds my 16" very well.

The Swiss Gear Ibex, or Pegasus, would work for you. I had listed the Synergy, but realized you had a 15.6 screen and the fit would be very tight, w/out a good sleeve.
As for sleeves, I have usually gone to meritline.com for my sleeves..As they have durable sleeves for economical pricing.
Now, if you watch Dell's Daily deals, you can find some good deals for around $7 to $9 on some nice Neoprene sleeves by Belkin and Targus. I just picked up a few from there a about a month ago paying no more then $9.
Also, checkout eBags - Largest Selection Of Handbags, Backpacks, Luggage & More - eBags, for sleeves & backpack, you can also get some good savings along with sometimes 20% Bing cashback
