    Hey guys,

Sorry if this is in the wrong board but i guess computer chairs fit under "accessories."

I am finally just shopping for a computer chair after having it with my current uncomfortable one. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what brands and stores to buy these chairs from, as this is going to be my first time. I don't want to spend too much on it, I see plenty of chairs going hundreds of dollars but I want it to be average enough in comfortability.

Also is there a specific time of the year that is the best time to buy a computer chair or is it just random deals? (also where might i find these deals =p)

Thanks a lot guys, hopefully it will save my back.

i would say staples, office depot or office max

those three have stores where you could test, and maybe buy online for cheaper/free delivery

or even ikea (who have generic workstation chairs, quite decent last i tested them)

Check out the local furniture stores as well as the mentioned stores like Staples. I can't suggest any specific brands as I never shopped for a computer chair by brand but by comfort and usability. I would would look for a chair that isn't too big. Some are as big as a lazy boys and I hate those. They are difficult to move and difficult to use. Believe it or not one of the main things I was looking for in a chair was one with straight handles, since I like to lean my one arm on the handle.

To to any store that carries office chairs, the stores near me includes staples, office max, and office depot. Go try out all the chairs you like that are in or near your price range. Every week they will rotate which chairs are on sale, so read the week ads or visit once a week until the chair you like is on sale. Sales are pretty decent and $100 models will go for $60 and $150-170 goes for $100.

If you have a Ikea nearby, be sure to check out Ikea..they always have excellent deals on chairs...my nearest one is nearly 2 hours away :(

Also, try your local Office Office Furniture Manufacturer's Outlet Store, sometimes you can find really good deals on floor samples, etc :) We have a local one that sells Herman Miller and Steelcase.....Sweetness.

And, check ones that sell *gently used/eclectic furniture*!!! :)

I got a ikea chair for home use, it was about 170€ (250$ i think) but its just perfect. Much better than the one i got in the office at work.

    here is the link:
    http://www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/40103100

seat is leather, side is full metal with lether top, back is made of mesh or something like that, so you dont have to sweat.

Look for OD, OM, and Staples coupon codes as well, especially if you can purchase the chair from their site and they offer free shipping. Use them in conjunction with the sale.

I got a nice deal on a chair from OD. $200 on sale for $130 plus a $20 off $100 coupon for $110 before tax. The chair itself isn't that great because, fair or not, I always compare all chairs to racing seats, but it's pretty good compared to other office chairs in its price range.

Not necessarily. I got my computer chair for about $70 from my local furniture store, which is comparable to a lot of the stores like Staples etc. Ofcourse chairs can range in price from low to ridiculously high, but with careful shopping you should be fine.

Alot of local furniture stores, will also have an offsite type of *outlet* and/or discounted retail/furniture store...with great discounts on the furniture! :)

OP, another place to check...would be your local Salvation Army or Goodwill..you would be amazed at the nice things you can find there on a *whim* :)
