I know there are a ton of help me find laptop backpacks, but I haven't been able to find good information on where to buy laptop backpacks from in Canada.

So what I am looking for are some suggestions for good laptop backpacks that I will be able to order in Canada for use at University next year, with a max price of about $80-$90 CDN. I have a Inspiron 1520 and it measures 14 1/8" x 11.5" x 1.5".

I have been looking at the Ogio Metro at Onlinebags.com
    http://secure.onlinebags.com/productdetail.ch2?productid=2451&category=0

Also I found the Oakley Flak
    http://oakley.ca/pd/4581

Any other places to buy, or suggestions for bags would be much appreciated.

I'd suggest MEC backpacks. They are designed well and offer a lifetime warranty.

Those look nice, though even the largest one would be a tight fit with my laptop. Thanks for the website.

Their packs are very well made and without seeing it in person the size ratings are a bit on the conservative side.

I fit my 14.1 inch TP in to a 13 inch sleeve. I've seen a guy with a 17 inch HP fitting it in a carrier for a 15 inch notebook with no problems. They make the compartments stretchable to fit snug.

And their stuff is tough I'm still using a school bag that I got about 8 years back.

are you using the MEC Deluxe Bookbag Daypack?

You might want to check out Coast Mountain Sports (they said they will have a back to school sale soon), they carry Dakine bags (I'm looking at the Dakine Campus)...It got pretty reviews on the Ebags.com.

You could also try www.eureca.ca . They carry some notebook backpacks, and their prices are shipping and tax inclusive. I haven't tried them personally, but I'm considering it.

I'm using the Classic timeless MEC Adventurer. I do use a MEC sleeve for my Thinkpad though.

Thanks bboy850, I didn't know that Dakine made laptop bags, and funny enough I live close to Vancouver so going to Coast Mountain Sports wouldn't be a problem and they have a couple of other dealers near me, so that might be a possiblility for me. I really like the Duel, Excursion and Explorer.

Not a problem dragoneye1589...If you get a Dakine, let me know how it is as I will probably get one also but not till September because my IFL90 won't arrive till then (I'm guessing its the same size as your Dell)! I'm interested in the MEC Deluxe Bookbag Daypack now also, seems pretty good and less flashy (less chance of someone stealing).

I will, if I get it. The problem with the MEC Deluxe Bookbag is that they state that the laptop compartment measures 29*28*5cm, and the 1520 is a full 5.5cm wider than the maximum, I don't think it would stretch that much.

I have been looking for a backpack too that doesn't scream "I have a laptop in here", which the OGIO and the Dakine don't give any indication of to me. Since I didn't know that Dakine made laptop packs, I don't think others will.

On a side note, I love how Canadian some of MEC's colours are, like "Fiddlehead".

I called the Coast Mountain Sports near me last week and they carry the Dakine Campus and Element. I am looking at the Campus because of the good reviews it received on ebags.com, will that fit your laptop? You could go to the MEC locations in Vancouver and bring along your laptop to see if it fits...

Looking now, it will be easier for me to go to somewhere else other than Coast Mountain Sports, because I probably won't go to Vancouver until September. I'm planning on going to one of the places on Vancouver Island that carries Dakine, and if they don't ordering one in if possible. I may also go to the MEC in Victoria if I'm down there soon to take a look at their bags.

According to ebags.com, my laptop should fit into at least the Dakine Campus, and should fit into the others assuming a bit of stretch.

I'm in the same boat as well. Looking for a bag for my 1520.

I would prefer a backpack style bag though. I am leaning towards the Alienware ones but I will let you guys know if I find a suitable replacement.

The Heys bags look really nice.

As for that Kensington bag, I only want a backpack style, and I'm not buying a bag from Future Shop due to how they treated some of my family when they tried to return a defective product.

Unfortunately the Alienware backpacks scream "I have a really expensive laptop in here"

Keep the bag on your back, when traveling keep it in your trunk.

Why wouldn't a sling bag be good can anyone explain? It's stylish and should have comfortable padding right?

Well personally I just dislike how sling bags look.

They are also horrible for your back, especially if you are carrying around heavy books with your laptop because they place all the weight onto one shoulder, a backpack distributes the weight over both shoulders, and if you have a sternum strap can distribute the weight over the whole chest area.

The general consensus I have read is that anything larger than 15.4" you need a backpack, anything lower you can get away with the messenger bag and still be ok.
