Hmmm, those are pretty cool for messenger bags. I prefer the backpack styling. I forgot to mention, also assumed you looked already, but www.targus.com has an extensive live of backpacks and shoulder bags.

    Try http://www.crumplerusa.com

They have a nice slip case, so you can protect your laptop whilst it's being carried in your back pack.

They have cool colours and styles :)

Might also want to check out www.shinza.com

Their "zero-shock" laptop sleeve comes in multiple colors. And they've got other computer stuff as well.

I agree, Tom Bihn rocks. They have a store here in Seattle (they're made in Port Angeles, a ferry ride away) and they are VERY well made and unique. Plus they have lots of cool accessories like sleeves for files and stuff. They're really streamlined, which I like. I'll be getting one if my nc6000 ever arrives.

I'm getting my HP zx5000 series today (woo hoo![ :D] it's a case of love at first site) but i need a back pack that will protect my shiny new baby and carry all of my books (and there are a lot). And I am way too vain to carry a wheelie bag. can someone suggest a bag that can comfortably carry everything and not make me look like a high school freshman again? No offense to HS frosh [ :p]

I checked out the bags from Crumpler, namely the base touch because it looks like it could store my laptop, books, a body and THEN some. Are they worth all of that money?[?]

What about a hard top case? I want one to fit an HP 15.4'' & then stick it in the lappy carrier for uber protection. [ ;)]

I ended up with a crumpler bag based on a recommendation here and it is GREAT for laptop plus all of your books and stuff. It is VERY well made has padding for your pc and slots/pockets for EVERYTHING and looks pretty "urban hip". They can be pricey on ebags but at J&R Music world on-line you can get it for about $80 for the LARGEST size...although you will only get two color choices for their low price ...it can sell for $129 on ebags or amazon if you want a wider variety of colors.

    Hope this helps.

crumpler bags look HUGE! That naked chick is 5'8 and it looks really oversized on her. Sorta like a turtle shell. HAHA
The messenger bags are okay... But won't hold my notebook & books and not put pressure on the lappy.

    I like medium size backpacks.

Anyone know where i can get a hard case just for the laptop for a 15.4'' HP zv5000v? Not those sock looking things, those could still crush from the weight of books and stuff. I want something hard cover because the top of the laptop isn't really sturdy. If you push it, it bends alil. Potentially very breakable.

I was not familiar with Crumpler prior to this thread. I've asked them to send us a pack or two for review. I'll let you guys know if they oblige.

bumbakpaks are really unique. i haven't seen anything like em. i saw their ad in the back of wired and then saw them again in macworld. i also got an email from wired for a 10% off coupon.

    coupon code : wiremagoct2005

i checked out their site and if you're looking for something really different, they are it. i bet they're great for carrying heavy laptops and all the other crap i tend to carry. i think i'll get one for christmas. downside is they only have 1 size right now. guess they're a small company and still working on expanding their lineup.

Tumi is the most expensive line on the market and the bags weigh more than almost any laptop. I have seen them at innovation luggage among other places. Their LEAST expensive laptop messenger is $215. There is absolutely no reason to spend that kind of money on a bag when you will get better protection from Brenthaven, Tom Bihn, or Booq... all of which you can get for less.

Even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend it on Tumi.
