I'm actually more into gaming. I'm just wondering, which should be best for my laptop. The traditional handbag, or a backpack type?
Which is better in terms of the notebook's physical security since I'm an active person and I move a lot with my notebook with me almost all the time.

I take my laptop everywhere also. I found the bags from Tom Bihn ( http://www.tombihn.com) fit my needs perfectly. I bought one of their Horizontal Brain Cells and in my case since I have a 17" laptop, I bought the Super Ego.

The HBC really offers great protection for the laptop and is made to carry on it's own or inside another bag like the Super Ego. They offer lots of options so it's worth a look I think. when I just want to take the laptop and minimal junk I just carry the HBC.

I also had an Eastpak bag for years that I really like but it won't hold the new system...

A backpack, for sure.. easier to carry, and gives better protection. And then, there's only so far you can carry a shoulder bag, unless you have the shoulders of a Hercules ;)

i agree with sesshomaru, defo backpack. For security looks less like a laptop bag too! Ive got a Slappa bag for my 17" and it fits perfectly and is well protected. I also find that there is more room in one than in a shoulder bag.

Well geeze, eat a steak once in a while and maybe you'll be able to carry something over 5lbs....hehehehehe... :) I am SERIOUSLY JOKING with ya there because I noticed where you are... ;)

Actually I had to switch away from a backpack style back in favor of a true messanger style bag ( Tom Bihn Super Ego Bag). I have RA and don't have quite the range of motion in my shoulders I should have if I did not have the disease. Also the backpack style bags create too much fatigue on my shoulders anymore. Even wearing it using both shoulder straps did not help and actually was far more painful.

I was very suprised how well the messanger style bag worked for me. But mine has a shoulder strap that allows me to loop it over my head opposite the side the bag is resting. As I mentioned I also have a 2xl sized Horizontal Brain Cell bag that I can wear alone using Tom's Ultimate Shoulder Strap. I can carry the HBC alone for times when I won't need the space of the full sized bag. Then when I want to take everything or am traveling I slip the HBC into the larger bag where it attaches and does not flop around and off I go...this setup completely solved the problems I was having carrying my backpack style bag plus it added lots of flexibility in what I can carry with me.

I think the best thing to do is take your laptop and a few of the items you might normally carry with you to a store. Then try out different styles for comfort by loading it up and walking around the store a bit carrying the bag. Fit is very individual...even if it's not the same brand bags you can get a better idea of what is realistic to expect performace/comfort wise from a style of bag.

I think I'd go with the backpack. I figured, I'm a guy who carries many things along with his laptop. It should be best for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
