Oh and I'm gonna use it with my Laptop so I think it should better be wireless...
-
I'm a big fan of Logitech mice, so I'd go with the G700.
-
I love my Mamba. It's the perfect shape for my hand and its performance is top-notch. I haven't used the G700 so I can't comment on it, but everything I've read says it's a great choice too. As for the Naga Epic, I wouldn't bother unless you really think you need 12 thumb buttons on your mouse.
-
Thnx for the replies, I know you love your mamba
each thread like this your always opting for the mamba... It's a tough decision..
What receiver does each mouse have, and is a wired mouse "ok" for a laptop...?
Because it seems strange to have a cord all around your laptop...
And what are the pros and cons of each of those mouses? -
The Mamba's receiver is about half the size of the mouse itself, and doubles as the charging dock. When you want to charge your battery, just drop the mouse on top of the receiver. It's not the most portable design, but you can still fit it into a backpack with no trouble.
As for wired mice, there's nothing wrong with them. I'd say the only time you would really need a wired mouse is if you're sitting more than a few feet away from your computer, to the point that a wired mouse wouldn't physically be able to reach. -
A wireless mouse is nice if you'll be moving it around a lot. Just makes everything easier to carry.
-
One of you says it's good to have a wireless mouse while the other says it's better if it's wired...
What about the r.a.t. 9? or the r.a.t. mice in general..
-
Wired vs. wireless is pretty much a matter of personal choice. If you get a good mouse, it won't matter either way.
As for the R.A.T. series, I've heard the adjustability is nice, but they have bad Z-axis tracking issues. I haven't tried one myself, so I can't comment. -
Doesn't the mamba have the same issue?
-
The Mamba uses the same sensor, but the actual Z-axis tracking has never been an issue, at least for me. There's a Teflon ring around the sensor that was supposedly introduced due to that, and I'm sure the firmware updates have something to do with managing it. When I lift my Mamba off of the mat, the cursor moves a handful of pixels. According to reports about the R.A.T. mice, lifting it off will move the cursor hundreds of pixels at a time.

If you still need input, I give my suggestion to the mamba or naga, depends mostly on what games you play, If you like MMOs or any game that uses the number keys for skills ect, the numpad on the side of the Naga is amazing. Once you get use to the layout, which does takes a while, it feels so natural using the mouse for skills and focusing on moving with WASD, I think it's spolied me, I can't say it would be easy to go back.
-
I use Mamba for about a year now and I can recommend this for you.
+comfortable
+smooth to glide
+low profile yet cool
+reliable
-bulky charging dock
-price
-teflon worns out depending on the mouse pad
Other than that no problem found. If you are thinking about the compatibility or bug, just update the firmware.
I don't recommend Naga because it is so huge, I saw it myself personally it feels good but so big.
The additional buttons is not that useful for me (yeah for me). I don't own Logitech mouse but other products and it's good. -
1: Naga Epic
2: Mamba
3: g700 -
This is really hard...-_- i think making a poll would be the best choice...

Mamba all the way as i'm not really used to the Naga
(might be a better choice if you play a lot of MMORPGs)
-
The G700 is my vote.
-
What if the mouse was going to be used specifically for FPS shooters? (Crysis 2 and Black Ops)
Hope I didn't thread jack too much -
I also put my vote up for the Mamba. I have used a Naga for a while now and while it's great for mmos to map a lot of buttons for quick access to skills it really isn't great for fps games. I love my brothers mamba on the other hand, it's just the right size and feels great in my hands.
-
I guess it's the mamba vs the g700 now...
I think I'll take the g700 because it has 12 buttons and I play a couple of mmos so having the few skills i spam on my mouse wouldn't be too bad...
What do you guys think?
And where can i buy it the cheapest in nyc?
I'm not gonna buy it online.... -
Unfortunately, you'll most likely find much better prices online than in any store...but try computer stores like Micro Center or Fry's if those exist near you. More mainstream electronics retailers like Best Buy tend to have stuff like that marked up pretty high.
-
...I'm not there myself, I'm in another country and I have a friend who's in the U.S. who's gonna buy it for me, he's there just for a vacation, so buying online would take too much time...

A cheaper alternative would be the Drathadder (it's a wired mamba
)
-
I'll vouch for the DeathAdder...top-notch mouse with a great optical sensor. Significantly cheaper than either the Mamba or G700, too.

EDIT: left is Razer Orochi. -
+ rep once I am able to rep you again
Did you paint the sides green, or is it an aftermarket part? -

Thanks -
That looks fantastic...maybe I'll try a paint job on my older DeathAdder

To the OP, why not read some reviews from reputable sites that have tested the Mamba? The following is a repost from another thread, specifically on the Mamba:
-
Reviews are inherently subjective, especially about things like mice. I'm not saying the Mamba is perfect, but as for the specific points addressed in that quote:
Power cable - I'm not sure how it's difficult. It clicks neatly into place, and the end of the cable is shaped to match the shape of the mouse itself, so you can visually see where you're aiming without looking at the actual plug. And removing it only requires sliding a latch on the underside of the mouse to pull the cable out. Besides, shouldn't you be using it wireless mode with the cable plugged into the dock most of the time anyway?
Shoddy battery performance/horrible battery life - the quoted life is 16 hours. I take mine off the dock first thing in the morning and put it back on before I go to bed at night, and it's never run out on me. Even if the battery's duration isn't any longer than that, I can't imagine most people needing more than a solid day out of it, especially considering you can drop it back on the dock any time for a few minutes when you step away.
Clunky design - relative, to a degree. I'm not sure what they mean by "clunky"...assuming they mean it's a large mouse, yes it is, and I like that about it.
Unreliable - maybe I'm lucky, or the guy writing that review was unlucky, but I haven't had any issues with reliability. The mouse does what I want it to do, and it functions as intended. My only complaint is with the configuration software; changing any single setting requires writing to the mouse's onboard memory, which takes a good 30 seconds each time, and then it writes to it again when you click "apply" to close the setting window. -

Regardless of that fact, yes, reviews are inherently subjective. However, these reviews were written by professionals for magazines that boast a distribution channel of thousands of subscribers, and this does not include the hundreds of thousands of readers who read these reviews on their respective websites every day.
These professionals are the same ones who write reviews for a living; they've probably more experience evaluating, playing and gaming with mice than you will do in your entire lifetime. Subjectivity matters where peons like you and I cycle out mice once every couple of months, if that. This is not the case with professional reviewers who cycle out their mice more times than you change your underwear in a given week.
The point is this. Disparaging the remarks of those at NBR who don't like the Mamba (or Razer products in general) is one thing. However, disparaging the remarks/reviews of highly respected magazines is quite another. Unlike you, they undoubtedly have much more experience and "hands on" time with the products they review. They know what makes a good mouse and what makes a bad mouse; after all, they are considered to be subject matter experts.
Your recent remarks continue to demonstrate a myopic viewpoint and a brazen, blind faith towards Razer and its products. -
The build quality on the G700 sucks.
I've owned the G700 for just over 6 months, and the silver coating on the mouse wheel has already worn away to a copper-looking color. The area next to the thumb button is also worn away.
Function-wise the mouse is a pleasure to use. If you can live with the inevitable degradation of the aesthetics, the G700 is a solid mouse. -
G500 or Deathadder, I recommend these two mouse to anybody.
-
I bought the R.A.T 7 a few days ago. So far it seems like a great mouse. My buddy who is a big PC gamer guy said he was going out that night to buy one after he held it if that means anything. If I wasn't so stuck on console dummy sticks, I could give you a better review on how it does in gaming, but I absolutely stink with a mouse at this point sadly.
-
I bought the R.A.T. 9 about 4 months ago and I love it. You can customize everything on it such as weight, pinky rest, thumb rest height and width, and the palm rest. You can read my review here!
I used to have a Razer Naga, but it was too light and didn't fit my hand right. -
