saw some Logitech G930 Headsets unboxing/reviews, i was too tired last night and didnt watch it full , review of the video says that the only con that user found was the plastic Made covers.

i think i will wait till Dec or early Next Year to get either G35 Or G930. ;)

I have the G930 and they are super awesome to me. I would hold off though if I were you because I just read about a new creative headset that is coming out later this month and supposedly they let you hear things that are all around you and even above and below you. The top model is only 90 bucks too. These will probably have some sort of EAX support too and that is something that the G35s and G930s lack. EAX probably only matters if you play older games though.

The new Creatives look interesting. If they really work, it might be enough to persuade me to move.

Man All this headset stuff for pc is sooo confusing, I wish it was a little more simpler then how it is now. So I have the G73jh, It has EAX4 and ADvanced HD soundcard of some sort in it, so then in theory I should be able to plug in any stereo headset and have it simulate surround sound accurately? Or will I have to buy a seperate usb sound card and "surround sound Headsets"?

EAX alone doesn't do anything for headsets. EAX multichannel is for multispeaker setups. The thing you need to enable on your G73JH is CMSS, which is the headphone surround emulation.

I've run CMSS (with the X-Fi Elite Pro) on three of the most expensive headphones ever made (among others) - the Sennheiser Orpheus, Stax Omega II and the Sony Qualia 010. So I think it's a safe bet to say I've given it a fair workout.

...And I'd have to say it's not as effective as a G35, which itself is far from perfect, since it has very little in the way of 'front space' - i.e. most supposedly-front sounds end up between your ears. This is a common problem for virtual surround headphones - so it would be very interesting if Creative have cracked this problem with their latest headset, or not.

Ok so then in order would you say this :

1: USB Sound Card Expensive headphones

    2: G35 (or similar 5.1/7.1 headphones)

3: Onboard EAX with Expensive headphones

is this fairly accurate in terms of options for surround sound headphone experiences?

although it sounds like it would be great i wouldnt buy creative since their customer support is garbage and driver support is even worse. (at least to me it has been terrible)

if anything though at least wait till there are reviews of the headset because it can go either way although i dont have much faith in the 3d sound being compatible with much.

In terms of surround experiences, I'd say

    New games (i.e. post-HL2):
    1. A good purpose-built gaming surround headset (G35, etc)
    2. CMSS with good headphones
    3. USB (or Firewire) sound card with expensive headphones

    Old games (HL2 and older):
    1. Stereo

Just splurged on a set of G73s, holy smokes great great sound, a little bit of fuzz but not a big deal. I live in Canada and luckily my buddy works at futureshop and got me the set for 89, they normally are 159 up here, so super steal. great bass, I was hoping it wouldnt lack in bass, but when lets say an explosion goes off these speakers are vibrating , super awesome. The surround sound aspect was tested out with some blu ray movies, aswell as crysis warhead. Both giving great results, I was a skeptic not gonna lie, but the headphones maps sounds properly around your head, no gimmick. Im a stickler for stuff like this, making sure certain sounds track around my head properly having a surround sound and all and these do a great job.

Oh and if musics a crappy rip, you'll notice right away, thats not the headsets thats the audio, low bit rate.

    You probably mean G35 ;)

If you're getting fuzz/whine in the right channel, you have old stock from late '09. Contact Logi and get it exchanged.

haha totally meant g35s lol, everything i have is g branded geez, but its just general hiss from the comp, like regular speaker hiss you know.. it seems a bit right ear heavy but im pretty sure my left ear doesnt pick up higher frequency aswell as my right anymore, any headset i wear i find this, even ear buds which is kinda upsetting but not a biggy, easy fix.and for the most part i stop noticing it after a while and everything sounds good regardless

I have one more question. Do these headsets has its own sound drivers or they work through onboard sound card's drivers?

USB connection Headsets have its own sound drivers. Analog uses the onboard sound card on your computer.

Something that may appeal to the OP, it was not on his list but it also did not even exist yet when he posted.

The Logitech G930 wireless headset (RF) its MSRP is $159.00 but I have a 25% off coupon that is good for a couple of more days to bring it to $119.00 so that may make it an appealing deal.

Product Link - Wireless Gaming Headset G930

    25% Off Coupon - GAMING-910

Its possible that code works for other logitech products also, but I only know it works with the G930.

Been playing with these now for a week and love em to bits. Im used to having good quality speakers in the form of surround sound and these fit in perfect. Ive had alot of friends put them on and be like wow the audio quality sucks in these, then ill put on a high quality audio file and their ears are in heaven.

Warning to buyers : you'll become a music snob after listening to these. you will hear every crack hsss or hum that comes from any poor audio rip, including vgames and youtube videos. Unless the audio your listening to is high quality , you will now hear all the extra garbage that you couldnt before on your low budget earphones. That said , these perform magnificintly and only add to gaming experiences.

Transformers war for cybertron sounds INCREDIBLE with this, Crysis and Stalker both sound awesome (crank this up in stalker, I almost pooped myself one night).

Crysis shows off the G35 expecially well, particularly the maps where the mountain is falling apart - no regular stereo headphone can replicate what the G35 can do in this respect. And it doesn't, as you say, come at the expense of fairly decent sound quality once you put it in Stereo mode.

Ya stereo mode does correct a bit of the humss and hisses, it brings the sound "closer" to your ears as I would call it. you get a feel for how these work by switching between the two modes. I was afraid these would be a gimmick and it wouldnt track sounds around your head properly but it does, and it does this with only 2 speakers. It manipulates your eardrums with the types of echos and refractions that give your ears the clues to know from what position the sound is coming from.

I wanna see the difference now between this and something like a set of ESL headphones with a usb sound card. Im currently in the middle of a project of creating a surround sound with ESL speakers.

hi guys, I hope it is ok to ask this in this thread.
I have been thinking of buying either G35 or Roccat Kave. From what I know G35 has 7.1 surround sound, but it is virtual, compared to Roccat Kave which has real 5.1 surround sound.

So, I would like to ask, which one is better?especially when it comes to surround sound quality, especially in gaming and movies.

I dont know about your studio XPS but some laptops dont have all 3/4 3mm jacks. My G73jh only have 1 for mic and 1 for headset, the headset your asking to compare needs a 3rd for sure, but it takes a usb for power. Sound quality may be diminished due to the amount of speaker in one ear cup, rather then just 2 with emulation software. I have no clue if one is better or not though just my quick observation.

hi, thanks for the response. Fyi, studio XPS has 3 jacks, 2 for audio and 1 for mic, but the mic jack can be configured to become audio jack as well, and yes, studio XPS support 5.1 surround sound output if properly configured.

it just that if I choose Roccat Kave, I will need to sacrifice microphone function because it has 4 jacks, ( 3 audio and 1 mic ). but i think its ok for me as I rarely use mic anyway.

thanks for the response, is there any other comment regarding g35 or roccat kave? this is my first time choosing a good headphone and I hope I make the right choice :)
