    Well I can't give you a comparison, but i really like my Zalman. I do suggest it, but i don't have experience with the others.

    My CPU temp idle is currently ~37 celsius and my palm rests are actually cool to the touch. It looks good too. ;)

    If u put a sheet of paper on zalman, will it have the power to blow the paper off?

    I have the Targus ChillMat and it works surprisingly well for a $13 accessory.

    As a somewhat related question (Sorry for any thread hijack in advance) Has there ever been any sales on the Zalman? I would like to get one... but wondering if I should wait, since I"m leaving for Uni soon.

    Does anyone have any experience with the fanless things that just seem to put the notebook at an angle? I mean if they work well I could probably make my own...

    Yes, i have, i put 2 dice on the rear support pillars of the notebook. But in the end, a cooler works better.
