I need a new basic printer/scanner all in one product as my current HP one stopped working,

but with the HP one i always had to keep buying new ink cartridges as they were so small and quite expensive

its only for home use so i dont need a top spec printer/scanner

are there any brands of printer/scanners that sell ink cartridges at competitive prices?

    thanks

I have an Epson Stylus AIO that's provided more than 5 years of reliable service, and I think I only paid about $85 for it. Whatever printer you get, this website sells their own brand of reconditioned ink cartridges that are far cheaper than what you'd pay for new ones. The ones for my printer are I think about $6 and change a piece.

Have you considered dropping ink-based printers entirely and go with laser printer/scanners? You'll get a much better price/page at the cost of a slightly higher up-front cost for the unit.

Brother printers. the ink is so ridiculously cheap on ebay, as are the printers. not the highest performance, but definitely a good value!

@sbabbab go laser, they are very reliable unlike ink printers, and extremely cheap in use. ink may be cheaper to buy, but disaster to use, especially if you tend to do it not regularly.

Laser is definitely the way to go for basic printing. You can find 3rd party toner cartridges for much less than OEM. I have a Canon 6030w and got it on sale for $35 at the time and just bought new toner after hundreds of pages for $13.

For monochrome printing, I am a laser man. And when color laser printers get less expensive, and better I will switch color to laser as well. The most reliable too. Cheaper to operate when total cost is considered.

If you're going for black and white, definitely get laser. I have a Canon laser and I even refill the old cartridge. Have to initially use a soldering iron to burn a small hole into them but it's now just a case of pouring in some more toner powder when they get empty and sticking duct tape over the hole. Sure, the chip on the cartridge says it's empty but it continues to print. I bought a huge bottle of toner and it's lasted about 4 years of heavy printing now. To get maximum cost savings, I recommend checking out which toner cartirdges can be DIY refilled prior to buying - not all of them allow it easily - although even if they don't, cheap OEM replacements still give a fair saving.

Ah hell, even color laser printers are so cheap these days. I just replaced a set of 4 in my HP color duplex, $80 and I can go for another 3000 pages.

My Stepdad who runs an Optics shops and needs to print hundreds of pages daily has a cheap Epson printer that uses these new ink cartridges, they look like they are liquid bottles. Very cheap to replace and last for ages.

    I have a Samsung CLP320
    Color Laser . Works great
Only downside is that it does not do photo quality on photo paper.
I take the photos to Staples now. Pennies for prints at MUCH better quality than I could ever do.

I just ordered a new cartridge for this https://is.gd/OiMbat (Brother Laser printer) and I've had it for over a year and a half on the starter cartridge, including two summers of teaching and printing out tests and such. Granted, I don't print a lot, but it's a solid printer/scanner and much more economical than any inkjet I've had.
