In fact , it is not so easy for me to get a new Mac Air. It is so embarrassed to admit that originally I thought there is no problem for such a high-end product to use the Gigabit Ethernet LAN in my dormitory. It turns out I was wrong. I even didn't find a port to plug the LAN wire. Later I refer this to the seller and he offered me two choice to buy their related product as the Air is a wireless-only machine, forcing users to find a Wi-Fi connection, even if there's a more stable wired network available.
Apple USB Ethernet Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)
Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)
But each of them will set you back $29. My friend said I can pay less money to achieve the same effect by sending me this one with more prominent price and good quality.

Actually I am a little touched by his words and tend to choose the latter .It is cheaper with USB 3.0 ,Asix Ax88179 Chipset, LED Indicator, for Macbook Air, Ultrabook and PC. But I doubt whether it will make a difference not use the Apple's own product? Is it reasonable for my worry? Or should I take some risks in order to save money?

I use the Thunderbolt adapters, mainly because I also use the Crapbook Pro's. But I don't think there'll be any issues performance-wise with a 'real' USB3.0 interface (as long as it has drivers of course), since I think the Thunderbolt adapter is probably just implementing the same thing in a bridge. However you buy Apple, you're best off living the Apple-across-the-board life for best results, this should be obvious.
The Air is such a high-end product? News to me. The Beats of Ultrabooks on the other hand? Certainly. -

I would get the Thunderbolt adapter simply because the Mac only has two USB ports.

I am sorry to say actually I am not an Apple fan. I want to know if the Thunderbolt adapter is designed specially for Mac devices? Is it compatible with the universal OS such as Window XP, 7 /8? If it does, maybe I can accept its price because of its common use.

Yes and no. You'll need the Boot Camp drivers and it will work with some functional limitations - i.e. it'll be annoying to use with Windows machines which have Thunderbolt, far more so than a decent-quality USB Ethernet adapter.

Not that I know of.
Which product should be chose to solve the networking with Mac Air?
