Probably bluetooth, as i'm using the N305 along with the Anywhere mx (love the unifying receiver), and I don't notice any real drop in battery life.

Honestly though, the difference in battery from either of these would probably a couple minutes at most, and would most likely not matter.

I'd also say bluetooth would, but you're honestly looking at maybe a 5 minute difference on overall battery life--if that. I would get the bluetooth anyway just to save a USB port.

Bluetooth is an energy hog. I'd avoid it unless I had no alternative.

Bluetooth is standardized and is rated at 1mw if the device transmit within 1 meter of the receptor.

2.4ghz wireless is rated to a maximum of 100mw but the range is much wider. A device that would be used within the same range as bluetooth would probably use about the same as bluetooth.

I believe in your question, the power is not an issue and your battery will not be drained faster by one or the other.

On the other hand you could consider bluetooth as less desirable simply because it has a slower bandwith than most 2.4ghz products though that is not always true.

Since its a numberpad... wouldn't a wired one work just as well, and be more energy efficient?

And in my experience bluetooth has always been an energy sink, but wireless isn't much better either. But I'd stick with the wireless, since this way you won't ever need to have bluetooth on.

That being said, a MBP 17" doesn't have a keypad? What a waste of chassis space...

@xScorp1on: If it's wired it'll probably draw (a very tiny bit of) power from the computer to run. Wireless ones have batteries. And yeah, I'm so used to most computers 15.6"+ having numpads, it's weird to see anything bigger without one.
