First, FYI : I am a PC user.

Okay, I think it's about time I launch a friendly outlash at all of the bag manufacturers that identify specific bags for I-Book or Powerbook models instead of simply posting "laptop compartment dimensions are length x width x height" and also all of this BS about "includes compartment for your IPOD" garbage :)

I am SO unbelievably sick of this. Is this because the MFGR believes that Apple users are so stupid that they are incapable of looking up their laptop specs to figure out what bag is good for which laptop? "Made to fit your 12 inch power book, "Fits your 15" apple notebook like a glove." HONESTLY PEOPLE!!! Is it illegal to put a PC model in these bags? Will they implode, explode or disintegrate if we put a Windows or Linux OS in there? Is it IMPOSSIBLE for them to just put measurments on their compartments???? Are PC users resricted from looking at the bags listed under the Apple links on their website? What if a PC user likes the bags that are SOLELY listed under the Apple sections? Do the pockets *CRINGE* at having a different model notebook in their? Are they sensitive to PCs?!?
I just end up going to Apple's website (if the dimensions are not posted) to find the specs on their models to figure out if my notebook will fit if I'm interested in one of those bags. Is it so hard for an Apple user to take note of their own specifications and refer to the MFGR posted dimensions? Must be so!!

Also, what is with the whole "pocket for your I-Pod" craze? Will *NOTHING* else fit in there? Does my Rio Karma MP3 player fall into a black hole if I put it in that pocket? Or something else that I need space for?

PLEASE! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!! :)
I can't be the only one that feels this way!!  :buyIBM:

I am sick of everything being about I-Pods. Ask a person to name an MP3 player and they'll say I-Pod.

    I-River all the way!

It just has to do with marketing. Since its on the apple online store, why not say it will fit the models that THEY sell? Plus since ALOT of people have ipods, it also makes since to say that from a marketing standpoint. Again, if you have a mac, you prolly have an ipod as an mp3 player. Its just marketing.

Yes but a majority of these things aren't on the apple website. It's true that masses have an I-Pod I will agree, but still....

My little kids use my six year old mac notebook (pizmo). It runs OSX and gets about 7 hours of battery life. It's nearly indestructable and they don't even use a carrying case. I can't believe the thing still runs. We never shut it down and I never have to fuss with it.

Don't have Apple envy...they are some amazing hardware. People think market share but there are a lot more Macs out there than most PC users realize since the large market share of Windows based systems is heavily weighted by large corporations. I always recommend Macs to people who are looking for a first laptop and know very little about computers and have no specific software needs.

    Right a $400 Dell instead of a 2500 paperweight :) lol.

I will not fight about it. Apples are simple, easy to use, and they rarely become complicated unless you make it that way. They are capable of doing amazing things with media, and are industry standard there (in *SOME* respects). They are absolutely adequate for any new user, especially if the only forseen need will be email, websurfing, wordprocessing & spreadsheets.

This post has nothing to do with Apple envy, and I have never had any such thing... because if I did.. I would have gotten an uber Powerbook instead of a Thinkpad, lol. I am merely commenting on how much attention that Apple gets from various bag manufacturers instead of claiming that all of their bags works for whatever laptop with dimensions W x L x H, and dont have a pocket "just for your Ipod" instead of "for your mp3 player"

I will *probably* never buy an Apple because I have never seen any evidence that the OS is as flexible / customizable and as diverse as Windows or Linux. It is true that Windows will always cause more frustration than Apple OS, lol, to say the least, but at the end of the day I will be far more productive with Windows. If for *any* reason, the availability of software is enough to stick with Windows.

    Hell yeah!

Apple Users are too stupid to know any different.. If it doesnt say apple on it they probibly won't buy it because well... They use Apple products.. So they aren't that bright to begin with.

When my girlfriend's Ipod headphones finally broke down and wire stripped, she *insisted* on having the same headphones again, and no substitutes. Interestingly enough, it also seems difficult to find white earbud headphones that look just the same. At least the BestBuy I work at doesn't have them. Odd. If you didn't know already, Apple doesn't sell their headphones seperately. The only way to get them is either purchase an Ipod or to purchase the remote. She already had a remote, but still wanted to pay the $30 (or $40?) for another one just to get the headphones. lol.

However, other than the Ipod, she is a PC user.

It's easy...Apple has built up a large brand name following. This is ingenius marketing(and also very well designed components that appeal to people who prefer ease of use over performance). So those bag/accessory companies, are smart by advertising that their component is designed to work with a specific Apple product. If you say Apple 14" ibook, that appeals to a larger number of consumers than Dell 14" notebook...cause the 14" dell notebooks are a large variety of sizes that may not all fit well into a particular bag. Which Dell is it? Inspiron? Latitude? Do you see the problem there?

So it's perfectly logical. Most also give information on measurements, on their website, for other compatible notebooks...but there's only so much room on the packaging and you don't want it cluttered. So advertising Apple compatibility makes perfect sense to me.

I never said they should advertise "fits 14" Dell" (or any other mfgr) , only that they should simply put the measurements, and leave the stinkin Apple out of it already!!! :)
Numerous bags are *ONLY* shown under a Mfgr's "Apple" portion of their website, when clearly, the product will also satisfy a wide variety of other notebooks, not just Apple, so why only make them public to people seeking "Apple" laptop bags. The only way I would have had a clue about a lot of those bags was simply out of curiosity... and then noticing "HEY! Why didn't they put that bag on the rest of the site?!?!?!?!?!?" Brenthaven is a prime example of that. I know there is at *least* one or 2 others.

In general, whether you can find the stuff or not... a lot of advertising is Apple biased.
