I'm curious. The Apple wireless Mighty Mouse works fine, the MX1000 seems to behave OK but the Revolution does odd things with the pointer when it's sat on the Dell XPS gaming mousepads. I like the shape of the XPS pads but since I'm using Revolutions on all my XPS's it's a bit of a problem.

What color is your XPS mousepad? I think for some mice, if it is more accurate, it will be more sensitive on mousepads that has a lot going on. What I mean by a lot going on is there could be multiple colors that is messing up the sensitivity of the mouse. Try using the mouse on a solid one color mousepad and see how it reacts. If your XPS mousepad is already one solid color, then I'm not sure what the problem is.

ya
i have a redish / pink mouse pad and my old logitech optic mouse doens't work too well on it. -

Some mice (I think lasers) don't like black mouse pads too much, either. Apparently white is the ideal for those.

It's black with grey 'bubbles'. It was just something I was curious about. I do use a black mousepad which works fine but I like the XPS pad, and the MX is my main mouse...

i think you should ditch your mousemat and get a big peice of non-shiny paper and tape it to ur desk. Works a treat with any mouse

I haven't used a mousepad in years and own the Revolution model for a few months also. It works on most surfaces, even my lap in an emergency.
Moral of the story is ditch the mousepad. -
Well yes duh, I stopped using them a long time ago. I just wanted to know why the Revos didn't work with the XPS pad when the (also laser) Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse works without any problems.
Why does the Revolution MX misbehave on the Dell XPS mousepad?
