Are there any good WiFi finders? I bought a Hawking Tech flip-out model a few months ago, and the thing was useless from what I could tell.

What about this one?

You don't necessarily have to use it for the wireless function. You could just use it for the finder features. I thought about getting it for that, but I don't go anywhere. -
Well, three problems do strike me: the price, abaxter's complaint about its speed, and the fact that it seems rather fragile. That being said, I try not to rule out options too quickly.
Some of the ones I had in mind are these:

I'd be interested to hear any feed back. It didn't dawn on me until I read your post that I might search the forum. Oops. -
OK. The second and third links Kilou provides at the end of this post are quite helpful.

I might not be so concerned about it, but I'm only running on adapter power, which makes moving to find a spot a not-so-feasible option. -
The two that you posted in your second post look very interesting (so much that I might want to buy one -- just as an impulse buy).
My problem with most wifi finders is that they don't show if it is an open/locked connection, so it might detect it, but that doesn't gurantee that it will be a hotspot. -
The Canary model in one of the reviews tells encryption status, strength, channel, and signal name. Excellent review.

I wonder if simply pulling out my Palm TX wouldn't be easier then using one of these devices. Knowing there's a wifi signal, but not knowing if it's secure or a free service, doesn't seem to be that valuable to me.
On the other hand, the device which tells you if the wifi is secured or not seems pretty large to have to carry around.
