Will I need a sound card? If so, which one?

Depends on what you want. Quality wise, an onboard will never sound like an sound card. I plugged my Z2300s in my U6Sg and no matter what tweaks I did to it ...sound was horrbile. Then I plugged my Z2300s in my Audigy Platinum and there was music playing not noise.

Probably not. I've always been using integrated sound and I say the speakers/headphones you use make a big difference too. On my 47'' HDTV, the sound is fantastic.

Which soundcard is in the t61?
