Ok so this may be a real noob question, but do Blu-Ray Burners also act a players?

I'm looking to get "ASUS External 12X Blu-Ray Burner with USB 3.0 BW-12D1S-U/BLK/G" to back up some large data files onto optical media. But it would be nice if I could also use it to play Blu-Ray movies (with the appropriate software of course).

Also, anyone know if this model complies with High-Definition Content Protection (HDCP)?

    Thanks

Gotta love it when people do that, they don't share it with the rest of the community. :p
My former Asus external blu-ray burner could play blu-ray movies (any can), but the particular model I had came with blu-ray player software.

^^ yeah, looks like all he wanted to know if it had player software bundled (some drives don't, lol ).

    Sorry, everyone.

I wasn't interested in if it had software bundled. My question was more basic than that (hence noob question). Given the proper Blu-Ray software on the laptop would the BD Writer also act as a BD Player. I figured it would but thought I would check on this board.

After posting, I did some more searching and found the specs on the ASUS BD writer. It will act as a player too. I should have mentioned that when I posted the second response.
