Guys, I'm down in the south and now, it's around 100 degrees here and my question is, if I leave my netbook in the car all the time, will the heat damage it?

I will NOT leave it in direct sunlight.

    Thanks

    George

Notebook components get rather hot when in use. Just the heat of the sun wont get them up anywhere near those normal operational temperatures.

Granted other parts of the laptop that do not normally get hot will also get hot in the car but they should be just fine.

I live in the PeeDee region of South Carolina and for the past three weeks it's been around 95 to 107 degrees F, with no break in sight so far. I always leave my laptop (in my bag) on the front passenger seat when driving, and in the trunk if I plan on leaving it in the car. Never had any problem doing that with the two laptops I've owned (Toshiba Satellite and my W520).

you guy's realize that it can get 150*+ in a hot car, right? He's talking about leaving it in there all day, not just when he is driving with the AC on...

Yeah, computer parts are normally designed to operate with a 100C (212F) ceiling, give or take a few degrees. The notebook will be fine, so long as he doesn't leave it in direct sunlight.

    I don't use the AC ;)

Computer parts including plastics? I don't think so.

Honestly I think LCDs may be particularly sensitive to heat sometimes. I had one crack for no reason, granted it was old, but I'm also sure it wasn't stepped on or anything. It was a strange looking crack.

Haha, nice. I don't fish myself, though. Actually, I'm getting a bit tired of this place (thankfully, I'm going to college soon).

Ah, you can't be too old then I guess although mind you, you're never too old to go to school but that was just my guess. School is good.
Personally I'm tired of this stinking heat. I should go to Alaska :)

Constantly exposing a battery to those high temperatures would be bad for its lifetime, but other than that, there's not much to worry about.

Remember just to use it under those normal operational temperatures. :)
Take care of your battery, it will return its "good job".

Yeah, if using in the car, it would be air conditioned or it would be inside a restaurant or something.

    Thanks
