well the compal hel80 supposedly is 14.25" x 10.4" x 1.25~1.5" and the backpack says laptops that are upto 14.5" x 10.5" x 2.5" will fit. So im guessing it will.

ebags has a compatibility tester thing, i think, where you give them the dimensions of your laptop and it will tell you what bags are a good match.

yes... the ogio metro says it will fit the same dimensions... My laptop couldn't quite squeeze into it without being impossible to remove. Unfortunatly the store I looked in did not have a metroid available. Since it is a bigger bag I will hope to god it fits though and probably order it.

Look for a review with pictures on the Ogio Metroid to be posted here in the very near future. It's a great bag and ought to fit your 15.4-inch widescreen comfortably. There are quite a few online retailers with no-penalty return policies, so if you're worried, seek one of them out for making your purchase and if something doesn't work out you'll have some options for return or exchange.

The Ogio Metroid review is up! Check it out over here.

The biggest compartment measures 20 inches tall (51 cm) at its tallest and 12 inches (30 cm) wide at its widest, with up to 8 inches (20 cm) of stacking space outward from the wearer if you didn't fill the file-folder pocket that is adjacent. (The bottom of the file-folder compartment is suspended above the bottom of the huge main compartment, so it takes up some part of the outward-stacking space of the main compartment when you use it.) The U-shape of the top means that somthing 20X12 inches and square, like a pizza box, wouldn't fit--but you could fit a 20-inch-long tripod or a telescope in there just fine. There are a few pictures in the review that should help you visualize how it fits together--look for the section on the "huge dumping-ground compartment" for details.
