I purchased a Sony Vaio K13 laptop and D-Link 802.11g wireless router. I ran my desktop and my high speed internet through the router and then connect with me laptop. The first few weeks my laptop, which typically sits within 30 feet of my desktop, picked up the connection at 100Mbps but recently it's dropped to 54 Mbps, with a noticeable drop in speed. To my knowledge I haven't changed any settings that would've caused the drop in connection speed. Does anyone have any thoughts on why the speed has decreased?

It could be due to interference from other devices that might have been introduced nearby, other than that it's hard to say why things would change if everything is setup the same.

The manimum speed with standard g is 54, so I'm unclear how you could be getting 100 unless you were plugged into the router.
