Ok, I've been researching for a while and I can't really find what I'm looking for.

I need a wireless gaming mouse or at least a gaming mouse that can be OK in games, nothing professional or mega uber gaming quality, just something that can handle gaming decently enough.

I have a Thinkpad T61p and currently use a old microsoft optical mouse. I think its like 200 or 400dpi. This was a huge step back from my MX1000 mouse that I had on my desktop.

Ive looked at the MX Revolution, G7, VX Nano, and even corded mice like the Razer Diamondback 3G and Sidewinder.

Here is the reason why I haven't settled for anything. I hate the USB Recievers that stick out like memory sticks. The VX Nano seems to fit that, but I read reviews of it not being good in games, and is it small? I have big hands and at least want it to be comfortable.

Even better would be a Bluetooth mouse that can handle gaming, because this laptop has built in bluetooth and I would really like to take advantage of it if I can.

So here are the options I guess in order of preference:

    1. Bluetooth high quality mouse that can handle gaming
    2. an RF mouse with a small reciever like the Nano, or some kind of mix and match (if that evne works)
    3. RF Mouse with the dongle sticking out
    4. Wired mouse.

The games I play: MMOs, like Warhammer Online, and various smaller not very well known MMOs. Sometimes on rare occasions I play CS:S, TF2, and GMOD. I also like high DPI as I have 1920x1200 resolution and I like being able to traverse the screen quickly.

So is there any hope for me, or will I have to settle for a MX Revolution, VX Nano, or G7.

Money isnt really a problem atm.

the g7 is good except it gets interfered with easily with routers and only has one thumb button.

i personally really like the logitech mx3200 laser mouse. its unfortunately only available with a keyboard http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8019681&type=product&id=1157067255426 but you might be able to get one on ebay on its own. its 800 dpi which isnt the best, but i personally find its fit amazing. and the thumb buttons are amazing too. it gets by for wireless haha

If your a serious gamer then bluetooth is out of the question. It's just too slow. G7 is just a wireless verision of the G5 which is the most popular gaming mouse of all time. I've never used it, but I've read some good review. I really don't know what to tell you, it sounds to me like your stuck.

I personally use a Logitech G9 which I love, but it's corded. All real gaming mice are though and the cord doesn't get in the way at all in case you want to check it out http://www.trustedreviews.co/peripherals/review/2007/11/26/Logitech-G9-Laser-Mouse/p1

    G9 Review

I've been searching for a gaming mouse for my new laptop and I think I'll be getting a G9. I have a G7 on my quadcore desktop and while it's a great wireless mouse I prefer not to have to worry about batteries/recharging with laptop.

I'm still doing research on mousepads, tho'. For both the G7 and G9.

@X2P: You are looking for mouse pads, aren't you? If so, I suggest you start a new thread - that way this one won't get cluttered. There's also a very good chance that your question might get answered faster.

@OP: Like Crimson Roses said, for gaming BT mouses are unadvisable. The only RF mouse that I know of that has a small receiver is the Nano, and it's as big as any other notebook mouse. I suggest you look into wired mouses - I have a Microsoft Sidewinder, and I love it.

The MX Revolution isnt a great gaming mouse. I have one and I use it for its many buttons. IMO your best bet is a G7.

I've got a G7 wireless, black edition. No problems with gaming at all. I play Counter-Strike: Source very often, and the G7 suffers no lag at all. Never felt any interference before, and has never failed on me. The only drawback is the battery-life, but it comes with two batteries, and the second battery will always completely charge before the other runs out. Generally, I'm very happy with it.

    Thanks for the rep!

I ended up getting the G9 and I couldn't be happier. It's suprisingly comfortable and smooth motion. The only buggy I think I discovered is the LED light colors don't work properly (only red, blue, and magenta work) and I found a post on the Logitech forums about it.

I also got a Steel Series QcK mousepad for the G9 and a Steel Series S/X for my G7. Awesome stuff!

2.4GHz wireless mice are great! There's 3 other solid access points near me (solid meaning a SNR greater than 20) on channel 3, channel 6, and channel 11. My router is on channel 1. After I switched mine from 6 to 1, the mouse's connection stuttered while I torrented off the Wi-Fi. Turning it off and back on removed any interference.

P.S. If you're experiencing poor battery life, make sure your computer shutdowns or hibernates. Standby or sleep will allow the mouse to deplete the batteries, even though it's only in the low power state.
