I have a very old Logitech MX610, which in my opinion is a perfect mouse. It has a good ergonomic design, a small little receiver which makes it good for traveling, and volume controls.

However it is getting old and ugly and I think a new one is needed. Essentially I'm looking for something that's decent for gaming and has a small USB reciever or bluetooth. Volume controls or a way to get volume control would be a plus. Any recommendations?

I have the Logitech Performance MX and it seems to fit your discription. I use it and it has a great ergonomic design and is on the large end of the mice scale. If you install the software, the buttons are programable. The buttons right above the thumb can be used for gaming or to control the volume if you program it as such. It also has a button just below the thumb on the edge that sticks out. The mouse scroll wheel has a button that allows you to decide if it free spins or spins in incriments. It's has a rechargable battery that charges via USB, or a USB cable plugged into a wall outlet so there is minimal downtime. That way you can let it charge while you use it as a cabled mouse.

Definately a nice mouse to consider. Maybe check it out at a local best buy if they have it, or look at reviews on amazon.

Look at the G700, it comes out the 16th.

Micro receiver, tons of buttons, and ability to charge via usb.

Makes me second think the mamba...

I second his advice, seems the G700 to be something to check out before buying.

I vouch for the Orochi, it's an excellent travel Bluetooth mouse, and it can be a powerful gaming mouse when you want it to be with the detachable cord.

For something more stationary, the Mamba is definitely worth checking out.

I recommend the Logitech Anywhere Mouse. Functionality is similar to the MX610 and you can use it on any surface. Not for the hardcore gamer, for a casual gamer like me, it's the perfect mouse for anything that you do.

Anywhere MX rocks. Orochi sucks never consider it for wireless mouse.
G700 will be the most ultra-portable gaming mouse these days

Logitech Performance Mouse MX, the best wireless mouse out there that is not made for gaming. If you are a gamer on the go i would recommend the G700 too. If you dont plan on bringing the mouse around, then the Razer Mamba. Dont get the Orochi, its horrible.

I have to agree...just bought mine and the 2 sec sleep times is bugging the hell out of me. If it wasn't for that this would be the perfect mouse.

Even my 3 year old Microsoft bluetooth mouse kicks into sleep mode after like 10 min or so.

That mouse will be hard to replace. I purchased the MX620 from a forum member here (KTRON) many moons ago(2 years I believe), and the mouse still works and looks like the day I got it. The mouse has been through a lot of stuff, and the battery last forever. In fact, I didn’t even know you could turn the mouse off and the battery still lasted 3 months plus although it was on the whole time.

MX620 can still be had, so I would look into getting it since you have some knowledge of it by using the MX610. Yes, the mouse is also good for gaming.

yeah G700 will be my future mouse :D
I can see myself clicking those buttons, that'll speed things up lol
And I have 2 rechargeable AA batteries and a usb charger,
so I won't need to plug the cord at all
