I need to get a printer to use with my new T42 2373L1U (soon to be replaced with the 2379DXU). I would like a printer that is both wireless and cabled. It also needs to be multi-functional (scanner, fax, printer). I know that there are some good multi-function HPs. I also know that there are "adapters" that will allow for wireless connectivity. The problem is I don't really understand how wireless printers and adapters work with my notebook. I'm looking for a printer under $200.

Can anyone explain how these work and what to look for when shopping?

I bought a cannon i80, but you have to buy the bluetooth expansion and the battery cradle if you want it portable. Hmm but it could be expensive.

Try the 3com bluetooth port for printer. they have on portable one's website under accessories.

Road block: No wireless all in one printers under 200 USD exist with 2 exceptions- USED and HOT.

Your alternative is to set up a wireless network with your desktop. If you have a router, good...you have 200 dollars to spend on an all in one. If you don't have a wireless router, you can get an epson Cx4400 or 4600 and share it with the desktop.

I don't need a portable printer. I just want to be able to print docs while I'm working on one room and the printer is in another. I do have a Belkin router. Can I buy any printer and run a cable to the router?

My downstairs neighbor set up the router and it's not even "secure" as he doesn't know how to do that. I'd appreciate any help with that as well.

    Thanks!

You can buy a wireless print server, but an integrated unit is well out of your budget. I have the HP Officejet 7400 that is the best option, nay only option for what you want.

Just buy a multi-functional printer with built in ethernet. I know HP and Brother has them for very good prices. Then just hook it up to your wirless router and you can print from anywhere within your wireless range.

Is the printer hook up to a PC? If it is, try sharing it. Well that's the cheapest way, assuming you have ur PC and it's hooked up to the belkin.
