I am looking to sometimes game on my TV with my laptop across the room while I lay in bed. (I have a bad back, so I lay down a lot.)

For the mouse I like something with the dpi adjustment, and a sniper button is nice. Extra buttons would be nice so I don't need the keyboard for things beyond moving. I mostly play FPS. I was looking at the G700s. Is it quiet or do the buttons make a lot of noise? Any others comparable that are lower cost?

Finding a decent keyboard seems harder as I don't know how they handle games. I prefer a keyboard that has full size keys, but is small. So get rid of the numeric keypad and other unneeded keys. Also a quiet keyboard is nice so the key noise doesn't wake others at night.

Range would be about 15 feet. I would mostly use for gaming, but also use for internet surfing, emails, etc.

    Thanks

Not exactly loud, but the right/left clicks on the G700s are slightly louder than the clicks on the Performance MX. The rest of the buttons are mushy and uneven in feel, but don't make much noise at all.

I wasn't able to find a R series. Did you mean the G series?

So the G700s left/right buttons are slightly noisy. Is the MX a better way to go overall?

I highly recommend the G700. Just a remarkable piece of technological engineering. Lol, seriously, it's *that* good. You won't be disappointed with it.

Is the G700 better than the G700s, or vice sersa, or other than looks they are about the same? How is the range and button noise?

Sorry, don't know much about the G700S. They look about the same to me.

Button noise is pretty quiet on my G700. The buttons all feel good and are placed in the perfect spots. I play RPG games and I like to use all the buttons to have different spells and items set to them, and it works perfectly. I imagine if you're playing a FPS game it would be great to switch guns, throw grenades, etc.

Don't know much about the range as I haven't tested it, but I'm sitting a good 3 feet from my laptop and I have no issues at all with the range. I believe it's up to 15 feet but I remember reading that somewhere so I'm not entirely sure.

Depends on the shape and size of your hand. The MX hurts my hand as it's way too tall for my liking, but a lot of people feel differently. They both track extremely well without a mouse pad, but the MX is better on a white bedsheet.

As for the G700 vs G700s question, I have no idea, but people don't seem to think there’s much of a difference. Slightly better sensor and a different finish on the top, from what I gather.

Actually, the MX isn't that much taller. It just has a more uneven surface, and it's a little shorter in length as well. For some reason, it feels like I'm trying to palm a basketball when I hold that thing.

Sorry for the terrible pics, lol.

The pics are great. Nice to see them side by side. Looks like the MX rotates the hand a little, maybe that hurts after a while? I do like the buttons on the G700s. I need to figure out if there is a hardware difference between the G700 & G700s. But I think I will go with one of them.

And find a nice wireless keyboard for gaming.

What's your tracking performance requirement? Are you fine with G700's weight and battery life? How about size and style of grip?

Tracking? Not sure. I tend not to use the super high resolution modes, as it is too jumpy. I like the feel of the MX518. So that is a good size, little bigger would be ok. For weight, I tend to like light mice. I have one that I can add weights, but I never did as less weight is less fatigue. Not sure if I am Ok with the weight of the G700, but I think all wireless weigh more because of the battery. And of course longer battery life is better, but I think for less lag it uses more battery power.

Tracking performance means many things and resolution is usually the least important one. Anyway, if you're not sure it simply doesn't matter.

    Forget about the G700 then.

Yes. But the Logitech ones (150g+) are just too heavy. Wireless moues with similar size / performance / battery life can get as low as about 110g and even that has plenty of space for improvement. If you are willing to sacrifice some tracking performance it can get below 100g easily.

Ah, you meant tracking when moving the hand fast. Yes, that is not important as I am not doing big movements.

So what do you recomend as a lighter wireless mouse for gaming, with extra buttons? 150g down to 110-100g is a big difference.

Razer Orochi with only one AA battery should get you below 100g (The mouse itself is 69g). Roccat Pyra Wireless is a bit heavier at 90g net weight (plus weight of one AA Li-ion battery) and maybe somewhat weaker, but also much cheaper.

RAT9 should be relatively light weight iirc, but somehow I can't find its weight anywhere.

I was under the impression that Gigabyte Aivia Uranium weights 114g with battery included when I typed the post. I was wrong. :( That may raise the bar for minimum weight higher if you need tracking performance similar to the G700. I still stand correct though. There is a small Chinese brand that makes a wireless mouse with similar or sightly better tracking performance compared to the G700, and that one weighs only 113g with the battery pack and an extra low power sensor included. It's not easy to buy outside Asia so I can't recommend it, but it does show what can be done.

Anyone knows a wireless mouse available globally with a high-end sensor but significantly lighter than the 129g Mamba?

The G700 isn't that light, but surely this is not a deal-breaker, right? For how good the mouse is otherwise I find that I can easily overlook the fact that it's a bit heavier. And once you get used to it it doesn't feel heavy at all. I dunno. I would still highly suggest this mouse.

I will look at those other mice later today. Thanks for the list.

I don't know if heavy is a deal breaker, but it is a big deal. The G700 is a cool looking mouse. It might be too heavy to use for long periods.

I use my G700 all day everyday and have no problems at all.
