Hey i heard it is possible to get a pci card or a usb that is plugged in the main computer with internet connection to supply wireless around the whole house.
I was looking at the pci wireless lan card (Gigabyte 802.11 b/g Wireless Lan Card) and some usb wireless such as the (NETCOMM WIRELESS USB ULTRA 11G
).
Im just wondering which one i should buy, and if anyone knows how good the wireless will be in a room separated by one wall.
Thanks![]()

Hello,
You are referring to ad-hoc wireless network. The problem with this one, it can be very difficult to setup and you must run the computer all day long. I prefer a wireless router, it is very easy to setup then ad-hoc.

If it's only one room over it might be worth considering just a network cross over cable. Then you use ICS in windows. The setup is very easy although the main machine has to be on for the other to have net access.
A wireless router is my advice too. You can connect your main machine to it with a network cable without having a wireless adaptor. Most machines has some form of ethernet unless it's really old. Your wireless router will just sit near the desktop machine always on and consuming very little power. You will be able to access internet around the house with your wifi enabled notebook.
